View Full Version : Very pleased with the new King V2! Anyone else?

Finally got my HB King V2 (belt tail) finished and flying. AUW is 472 grams w/1320 TP lipo. I didn't fly it stock so I don't have that to compare to, but the way I have it configured at the moment really flys dandy. Esky 3800 outrunner w/9 tooth pinion, Telebee head lock gyro, Dynam 25A ESC/BEC, 3 HS55s, 1 HS50, Deans antenna(presently lost in the mail) and an R146iP Futaba PCM. Flying with 9CHPS tx and I must say it flys very solid. Real quick on the response to unputs which I would imagine has something to do with the relatively short flybar. Be assured, this is a really nice little belt tail machine for the money. Parts support should catch up to these soon as I would expect them to become a pretty popular micro very soon.

I dont recall seeing this heli listed anywhere. where did you buy it?I have too much $ in my 450 for my skill level and and the king 2 might not bite me in the.... so hard when I crash.

Heli Direct got a batch in and they sold out almost overnight. I think the next shipment is scheduled for later this month with parts support too, hopefully. They are just hitting the states so are hard to find but if you do some snooping around on E-bay you can find them. My RTF came from E-bay and was priced at 148$ but 40$ to ship so you can expect to pay around 190$ or so for the RTF. Barebones is like 90$ if you can locate one. I will likely use the electronics I took off this one for a plank of some type. It's worth the time to check out as it would give you the feel of a 450 without risking your multi$ Trex trying out new stuff.

I will have my new hbk2 in a few days.
I have only flown a blade cx2 and a sim...this is my first cp heli and am excited to fly it.
I bought the esky 3100 brushless motor and esc also.
Do you feel this is enough motor?
I see you have the 3800.
What run times are you getting?
I can do some basic aerobatics and some 3d on the simulator and hope this motor is capable if I get the nerve to try some of what I learned on the simulator. :badair:

Oh yeah, the 3100 should suit your purposes fine for sport flying and getting use to a CP heli. You can always drop a 3800 in later if you get to the point that you want a little more punch. Expect around ten minutes (give or take) depending on how you fly the thing and type of battery. I wouldn't recommend flying it straight out of the box though! Go through the entire machine and pay particular attention to the gear mesh and belt tension. Those two things right there can really make a difference in flight time and operating temps. Both were set-up to tight on mine when I got it. Silicone spray the belt a little before you fly each time too. That will reduce static build-up that can cause glitching and really extend the life of your belt and pulleys. Your gonna love this heli once ya get it all set-up and used to flying a CP. Take it slow and use some training wheels till you get familiar with it. This heli will be allot more intimidating than the coax you have been flying. Good luck with your new bird!

I have the eflite 4800kv inrunner will that work?

Probably work OK. The KV2 is pretty heavy with longer blades than the Blade CPs and HB CP2s. I'm guessing you might be better off with outrunner torque than inrunner RPM. This set-up I have barely gets warm at 485 grams AUW and the Esky outrunners are not very expensive. One plus to the inrunner though, The frame would likely not have to be modified for installation. That's the long way of saying "I don't really know"!

Yee Haa! First battery with my bk2 today.
Wow...quite a handfull compared to my cx2 and the G2 sim.
Shes still in one piece but I have a question or two.
Would my optic 6 radio tame down the bk2 ?
I have always run around 20% neg expo on all my planes, boats and cars and assume this would help the touchy controls.
I also noticed that the flybar was sticking so I freed this up.
I will go 3100kv brushless nxt week when I get the pinion set and wanted to ask a reccomended pinion gear.
Novice to cp helis and Any set up suggestions and tips are welcome.
This nice bird is the stepping stone to my trex 450s cf.
Thanks for your time :badair:

Most definately, use your Optic 6! I noticed right off how quick the KV2 was around center stick and settled on -20% expo. Really smooths things out. The head is a little tight new and will really settle down after you get a few packs of run time on it. If you can handle the KV2 a Trex will be no problem for ya. (except it will be more intimidating at first) I use a 9t pinion with a 3800kv that gives me approx 2500 HS. Seems OK but may try a 10t eventually. I think 2800 would be a good HS for this heli. :dontknow

Great...I'll do the radio when I change to the b-less motor.
I think I'll try and build a battery tray and set it up like yours.
I have to space the battery way foreward to get the boom level for the correct cg.
Can you reccomend some throttle and pitch curves keeping in mind my noviceness?I will be flying in normal for some time I'm sure but when I get ready to flip the switch I would like to know my settings are good.
Thanks for your advice. :badair:

Haven't crashed yet, Eric, so I haven't really had a reason to dissassemble the rear end and see how everything fits together. If your gyro is ok I would guess it's mechanical. Could the pulleys be slipping on their shafts somehow? Does the belt still have all it's teeth or perhaps too loose? :dontknow What gyro are you using, by the way? Hold the main shaft gear and try turning the tail rotor by hand. That should tell ya if something is slipping.

Hovered a dozen packs today and cooked the stock motor.
It ran hotter than a pistol...melted the soldered/bolted on wire connections.
Will go b-less soon as I get my pinion set.
It spins much freeer now and the fly bar is better also.
Appears to be a good bird so far other than the motor.
hope my avatar works...for all you Ford guys!

Were you using the green 1000Ma lipo that came with it? Mine is crap! Won't balance and I don't really expect it to last too many cycles. It makes my TP balancer flicker and blink like a Christmas tree. :?

So far so good with the stock lipo.
Balances fine on my DN charger...using mega 1350,s also.
Any advise on throtle and pitch curves for my bkv2?
Will set up optic 6 soon.
Thanks

My stock electrons doesn't work. Can you please post or refer a setup sheet for your 9c?

My 9c set-up would not work with your stock Esky heli electronics. Allot of stuff would be backwards. What is it, exactly, that doesn't work? :dontknow
My stock gyro keeps blinking and speed controller cuts off at random.

Got it to work . I just ordered a 25A controller with my esky 3800 motor. I hope the 11t works well.

Good deal! Glad ya got it going. I never fired up the system stock so I didn't want to try a guess and get ya even more fouled up. The 11t pinion will give you a rip'n headspeed with the 3800 BL. I am going to a 10t on mine. The 2450/2500 I get with the 9t is a little slower than I want to run this heli at. 10t should get it up around 2800 I'm guessing which would be a nice compromise for most types of flying. :glasses2:
I'll try it when my ESC comes in. I'll hold off putting all my purple stuff and carbon blade on until I confirm it flies good :)

I went for a Micro Heli CNC swash. The stock swash link balls were really rough and the links popped on and off too easily for my liking(One actually popped off during a spool-up). Besides, the stock swash looked rather over engineered and brittle to me. This new CNC job is all business and works/looks great. I went with Micro Heli mainly to avoid purple. :glasses2:

I'm a real newb to this heli and have almost the exact same setup as you Rebuild. What are you pitch and throttle curve settings because I can barely get mine off the ground.

yaaa Rebuild... I asked you what you would suggest for pitch and throttle curves to set up my optic 6 many posts ago but got no suggestions.
I'm new to this heli stuff also...any help is apreciated.
Ohh...oven cleaner will remove the colored anodizing if you want to save money on cnc parts and not be pink.
Thanks
