got a great deal at Costco today on a Nikon D40X package.

I would like to buy the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens (or maybe Sigma 10mm) for it but the D40X doesn't have an AF drive motor so it has to use lenses with the AF drive motor built in.

My question is can I still mount up the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens to the D40X and just manually set the focus to infinity and shoot?

or what about this lens?

appears to be compatible with D40X autofocus.

Bear with me... I'm new to DSLR's

Yes, you can manual focus the 10.5mm. I have one and it's a super nice lens.

you can use the lens DJ but you have to set it to (M) manual mode the minimum focus distance is 5.5 inches anyways

DJ,
I was looking at that Tokina lens too, but it won't autofocus either. I have heard good things about the Nikon, not so good about the Tokina (not as sharp). I plan on getting the Nikon.
