View Full Version : Why can my flybar rotate so much?

I think I've been chasing the wrong thing with my tracking problem. I don't remember if it was like this out of the box but I can freely move my paddle bar when I think it should be locked.

Picture 1 shows the extreme counter clockwise rotation and picture two shows the clockwise rotation. It's almost ninety degrees of play! None of the servos move while this happens.

I've examined the head as carefully as possible and even brought it to my LHS. We're both stumped as to what could be wrong. I'm thinking the mixer arms that connect to the swash are the culprit but they don't appear to be damaged and tightening the screw doesn't do it (just adds binding).

I'm in desperate need of some help on this one. What should I be looking at?

If it rotates like that without moving a servo then something is seriously wrong. It will teeter up and down but shouldnt rotate.

Yes, it see-saw's like any other flybar but rotating the paddles causes the linkages to move but does not move the swash or the servos. It seems to get lost in the mixer arm which I've tried to tighten.

I'm hoping this is a common symptom to a common problem that someone more experienced than me can identify.

Something isn't hooked up, or hooked up seriously wrong.

Well, after modifying the photos a little, you can tell that your flybar arms are NOT screwed down on the flybar. If you look at the attached photos, you can see that when you twist the paddles, the flybar arms both go in the same direction. I can't understand why but that's what the photo shows.

If you twist the flybar, one link should go up and the other should go down. You have some tightening to do it looks like.

Thank you. It turned out that the plastic was broken in the flybar control arms. All better now.
