View Full Version : Battery straps
Is there a better/easier way to strap the batteries on? Those O-rings are kinda troublesome. I feel like I'm going to tear the heli in two when stretching those o-rings out over the lipo.
Thanks

What size lipo are you putting on?
What I did is for each o-ring, take a small tie-wrap and loop it through the o-ring and close up the tie-wrap until you have a little more than enough room to put your index finger through it. So then you hook it on one side and use your index finger in the tie-wrap loop and stretch it over and down lower then the hook on the other side and hook it. Very easy. Faster than strapping it.

I use a piece of the double sided Velcro for the front strap. It goes in the slots under the ESC. I have done this with my stretched 500 and stretched mini P. I still use the o-ring on the back of the pack.

I find the easiest way is to hook one side and stretch it straight up, then bring it down over the pack and hook the other side. If you just hook one side and pull it across the pack first, then you're only stretching one part of the o-ring and it's a lot more difficult. By pulling it up first, you're stretching the whole thing and not just part of it.

I got velcro straps. Mine are home made, with a plastic loop buckle. But the Aligh style straps should work good. Never used O rings on mine

+1
With this the rubber band gets an even tension and the battery is super locked in place.
I've only used rubber bands since I have the Protos and I think they are far better than a strap.
Thanks for the input guys!
Alex,
The tie wrap works flawlessly..THANKS

Just keep an eye on the o-ring for deep cracking. I usually end up changing them every 200 to 300 hundred flights.

Yes they crack after a while. you can get longer ones (easier to stretch) at McCarr.
I use a Gens Ace 3300 pack, and it's much harder on the o-rings to stretch over the bigger pack.
At the front, a velcro is so much easier that the o-ring.
