Ok all you Mini T pilots I could really use your advice. I finely decided it was time to stop sinking so much money in to my Walkera Heli's and spend it on a better quality machine. So I ordered my self a Mini Titan. :D
There's just one thing that has started to concern me since placing my order. After doing a lot of reading I see that most people prefer to use a 401 with a 9650 servo or something similar to this setup on their tails. I had planned on using a Futaba GY204 with a Futaba S3107 on my new Mini mainly because this is what I have on hand already but I haven't seen anyone else using this setup and now I'm starting to get a little nervous about it. What do you all think? Will my setup be ok if I'm only doing basic flying ( FF,F8's, hovering) and not pushing it to hard. Or should I just hold off fling it until I can upgrade my equipment? :dontknow

I'm not familiar with the servo, but the gyro will be more than adequate for basic FF (and loops, rolls, flips...) I would try the servo too. Worst that happens is a tail-wobble.

The Futaba S3107 servo has the same specs as a HiTec HS-56HB servo.
Operating Speed: 0.12sec/60 at 4.8 volts
Output Torque: 1.2kg.cm 4.8 volts
The setup worked grate on my other heli's but they are a bit smaller. I guess my main concern is if the Mini bigger size will add to much of a load on the tail for this size servo?

For the tail servo fast is usually more important than grunt. I doubt it'll be as good as the digitals, but I'm sure it will be servicable at least for now.

Pick up an HS81 for the tail. They are under 20 bucks and work great as tail servos on these minis. Its an analog servo, but the 240 can't run a digital servo anyways. I run an HS81 on my Mini Titan tail with a 401 and it holds great through any flips and rolls I throw at it.

Just to be clear, the 240 can run a digital servo, but it doesn't have a "digital servo mode", so it doesn't take full advantage of the digital servo performance. But your point is a good one, I don't think I'd go digital unless I was expecting to upgrade the gyro eventually.

Thanks Spork, I just meant it doesn't have a digital servo mode like the 401. Good catch

Hi Danimal!
The difference between the MT and a Walkera is huge, you'll love it.
It's so much more solid, looks like it flies by itself compared to my DF60.
If the Gyro performed good on the walkera it will do even better on the MT.
Now i'm adjusting to make it fly the way i like, instead of adjusting to make it fly.

Thanks for the input guys. Just to play it safe I think I will replace the 3107 with the HS81 that funky has suggested. At least I'll be able to relax and enjoy my new heli without the constant fear hanging over my head that I installed a servo that may or may not be up to the task.
:Fan
I do plan on eventually replacing the hole setup with a 401 and digital servo.

I'm really looking forward to finding out what its like to fly the more stable MiniT compared to the Walkera's. Lately I've really been getting into obstacle course flying and stability is everything.
I was devastated today when I got home from work and found a door tag that said my MiniT had been hear and left. The carrier requires a signature so he couldn't just drop it off. No he had to tease me and take it back with him and make wait another day. So I'm taking the day off and sitting by the door with pen in hand so that can stop the torment. Is this normal behavior or should I think about getting some help??

I gave up recieving any shipments to my house ever. Too frustrating. Now I recieve everything at the office. There's always someone there to accept it (accept on Saturdays), and the shipping is sometimes cheaper to a commercial address.
I run a GY240 /HS56HB on the tail of my MT - it handles loops, rolls, stall turns, and flips with authority. Not as quick as my GY401 on my SE but if you set it up right, it works great. I plan to upgrade to a 401 when I decide to move to a digital servo on the tail but it hasn't held be back yet so I haven't made the switch. Cheers, you're going to love this heli!

Its Hear !!!
My new MiniT was delivered yesterday. I felt like a little kid at Christmas time opening the box. Sat down and read the manual cover to cover twice ate a quick meal and then started the build. I completed the head and frame assembly before I had to force myself to stop and go to bed. This morning before I had to go to work I built the tail rotor assembly. So far I'm vary pleased with the quality of parts and ease of the build. :)

Thanks for the feedback on that setup. I've been looking around and haven't see anyone using the 240 and the HS56 size servo on there MiniT's. I was starting to wonder if there was a reason other than everyone's preference for the 401 for it. After reading your reply I think I'm going to try it on the 240 and Futaba S3107 for now and just replace the hole setup later. Its actually a pretty good servo I've never had any problems using them.

Congrats!,
I'm very curious about your first hover experience or maiden flight.
Mine was like

Just thought I would give a little update on my MiniT build.
Well unfortunately I wasn't able to get anything accomplished over the weekend. I had to go out of town for Mothers Day. I just couldn't think of a way to tell my mom that I would rather stay home and work on my new heli instead of making the trip to spend the weekend with her.
Anyway when I got off work today I sat down and started with the electronics installation. Those Futaba S3107 servos that I have are a perfect fit on the MiniT. I didn't need to make modifications to the mounts or add any spacers to get things to lineup. The linkage geometries all look really good. The real test is yet to come. I haven't flown it on these servos yet.
The hardest pat of this build has been the sacrifices I've had to make. All the servos and the gyro came off my fully blinged out 3DX 400. Originally I had planed on using the Futaba R127DF RX off it as well but after looking at it in a couple different mounting locations I decided to go with an Electron 6 off one of my Walkera's instead. So now I'm down two Heli's instead of just one to get his Mini flying. But if this E325 lives up to its reputation I'm probably not even going to miss the other two. I'll just stick those things back ware they came from as I upgrade the MiniT.
