Ok, so here's a weird one....I took the back panel off my DX7 to file down the throttle groves...Now after putting the casing back on I find that the radio won't turn on....??? I thought that maybe I left the unit on, thus dead batteries.....but I just checked it after 4 hours of charging and NOTHING......While I was re-installing the tension bar the screw dropped down into the electronics....could it have fried something???? To make matters worse, it's a brand new unit....less than 4 hours on it!!! Checked the battery connections and everything seems fine......HELP!!!! Any suggestions????

Did you turn it on with the screw in there? If not, you probably didn't fry anything, just disconnected something inside.

Pinecone's right.

If the unit was powered down, it's less likely that something shorted, unless you had the bad fortune of the screw falling across a trace or pin that's energized whenever the battery is in.

How hard was it to retrieve the screw? Did it just fall back out or did you have to dig for it? Was it lodged hard enough to cut a circuit trace? It's not clear from your post, but you did remove the throttle strap and do all file work outside of the radio, right

I've not opened the case on my DX7, how much of the board can you see? Take a bright flashlight and start looking at the circuit board from one corner, look for any scratches or loosened components. I imagine there is a great number of very tiny surface mount components in there, so get up close and go slow.

Even if you are lucky enough to be able to see the damage, you may have to put the spare throttle strap in, and seek warranty help, unless you are comfortable with sub-miniature soldering

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

A few people have managed to blow the fuse in their DX7's. Its in there on the board somewhere, that should be the first thing to check, its a 3A if it needs replacing.
