Hi Everybody,

There have been a lot of people ask me, John and Al about whether to wait for release of teh TRM 260 or go ahead and get the TRM 231???

The answer is an easy one. It took over 5 months of testing (at least) to get the 231 to where it is today. Our goals for the 231 were user friendliness, better torque/power, wider power band and vibration control. Please have a look at the IRCHA demo or any of the videos we are hosting of John's Spectra and SE with the TRM 231 and you can see that Toxic Al did a fabulous job of meeting the goals. In our opinion, the TRM 231 is the most user friendly, powerful and vibration free Zenoah Modified motor on the market today.

The TRM Prototype 260 has 8 flights on it and although so far testing is going well, it is going to take quite a while during our winter here to finish testing to the level that is required for it to be a MA part number and available to the public. If it proves to be better than the TRM 231, we will definitely let everybody know. If it ends up not working, we will let everybody know that as well.

And the BEST reason to go ahead and get the TRM 231 is....

Toxic Al says the TRM 231's can be upgraded to TRM 260's very easily, if the 260 turns out to be the motor of choice. :)

I hope this puts any and all fears of "I just bought this and now it is obsolete.." to rest. TRM stands behind our motors, and we are working very hard daily to bring you guys the best Gasser Helicopter motor offerings available anywhere for any price.

Stay tuned for more info and reports. Thank you for reading.

I get calls and e-mails all of the time on this subject. Please continue to ask away. This forum will be a good place to ask the questions and get everyone the same feedback. Please feel free to call me with questions, but try to post them here first, my cell phone bill is killer this month!

The G-26 motor in it's stock version is not user friendly nor suitable for use in the Spectra-G, period. The stock G-231 however, is quite suitable and yields very good performance.

The TRM modified G-231 is the hottest ticket available for gas helis right now and performs well enough to make spectators and pilots jaws drop!

The prototype TRM G-26 modified is showing very good results as of yet. By this time during break-in, the stock motor would already be showing signs of being not user friendly (shaking). Our results on the modified version have been great but the boat is still not in. This G-26 modified may never become a production motor. My gut feeling is that it surely will. Toxic Al has done what is needed to take care of the issues with the G-26 and I have complete faith in his abilities (he is not new to this at all). Toxic Al's modified G-26 motors have solved the same issues in this motor for the gas boat guys and the motor absolutely kicks butt.

Do not wait for the modified G-26 to come out to rig out your new models. The wait may be a long one, as this motor does not have a good history in it's stock form. The modified motor takes care of the issues first and performance second. The G-231 in any form can later be converted to a G-26 modified motor as well. Everything is the same except the jug and piston/ring and these would be replaced in a conversion to a G-26 modified motor so you would have a new motor after being modified (the motors innards would be inspected, of course).

So your choice as I see it, is whether to get a TRM modified G-231 motor or the stock one.

Hope this helps!
