I have a JVC GZ-MG50U 30 GB HDD camcorder that I have flown on a 600 a couple of times.
Had issues with mine too on the 600.
Had it mounted on the left rear side with Velcro + tie wraps.
It picked up electrical interference or vibration when the motor on the 600 was spooled up.
The video recorded for a few seconds while on the ground and stopped.
Took the camera off and could not access the video files.
It had the blinking blue light that said accessing files that stayed on continuously.
It would record video and take pictures.
I could access the pictures but not any video.
Hit the reset button and took the battery off and reinstalled and reset several times and still could not access the files.
I was thinking oh no, I had ruined the camera!
I hooked it to the computer and was able to access the pictures and video files and deleted them from the camera with the computer.
Was able to reboot the camera, rebuild the camera files then and it works fine now thank goodness.
I am going to mount the camcorder further away from the electrics of the 600 and try again.

wow thats exactly whats going on !! , however with my JVC HD mc500AA as soon as i start the motor , it just locks up and i cant go in with the PC and get any footage at all.

i have to repair the dirctory and the cam comes good again ...

i did do test and put the camera strait under the bird and fired it up and the camera worked well ....didnt lock up...

so i am now looking at 350us for a http://www.askmanap.com/APLG.html

i really really hope this will fix my problems ,and i can get on with it ...

Please if there is ANY reason to NOT buy this camera mount please let me know before i hand my cash over ...

Many thanks

This morning I made up a wooden camera mount to move the JVC camcorder away from the helicopter.
I attached it to the tail boom struts at the back of the 600 and several inches off set to the left to distance it from the helicopters electrics.
The JVC HDD still locked up as the helicopters motor spooled up.
Had to repair the files in the camcorder again.
I adjusted the mount some more and moved the camcorder away from the helicopter motor a total of 8 inches and it still had interference and locked up.
This camcorder seems to very sensitive to interference from the motor and is not working out for me on this helicopter.

I mounted a Cannon PowerShot SD 630 and did 10 minutes of nice videos with it.
Does not have the quality video of the JVC but at least it works fine on the helicopter.

That is a nice looking mount in your link.
If you decide to get it hopefully it will allow you to move your HDD JVC far enough away from the interference causing electrics so that it will work.

yeah after talking to an elctric tech ,

two problems , vibration or elecrtic noise

if it electrical
we need to install a ground plate 1.2mm around 8inch/8inch alloy mounted
between the AP platform and the bottom of the heli .. and this ground plate needs to be earthed to the main battery ..

we are working on it !!!

try this test .. place the camera underneith the heli , not mounted to it ... just place it underneith it , start the heli , and see if it locks up .

mine didnt , witch sort of told me its the vibration from the heli more than the electrical noise

that AP mount looks the goods as its got oil dampners fitted to it and a floating gimble to isolate it from vibration ...
