I just made a new gear hub for buddy Bob's new Raptor 50 V2. The advantage of this gear hub is that it totally stabilizes the drive gear so that it doesn't drag on the inner bearing assembly and also allows proper tensioning of the tail belt without pulling the white gear sideways and creating drag on the inner bearing. The inner bore of the hub is slightly enlarged to provide proper clearance between the one way bearing hub and the newly machined gear hub.

This assembly is a replacement for the OEM White gear that is supplied in the Raptor V2 kits.

The red gear utilized is from the Raptor 30/50 V1 kit. The countersunk screws are 3mm X .5 and 10mm in length which are cut to fit. The same screws are used in both the red and gray gears. The stabilizer screws are 3mm X .5 socket head cap screws cut to length.

I used a longer Jesus Bolt and unlike the OEM version the "smooth unthreaded portion of the bolt" goes through the new hub, hardened sleeve and mainshaft. This will help prevent any shearing action on the threads which is possible on the OEM version/white gear.

Just something I thought I would share. Rick's used to sell a similar unit prior to the introduction of the White gear. He has discontinued that item which I think was a mistake as it produced a really drag free system.

I have attached some pictures with detailed descriptions for your review.

I have plenty of ideas, just wish I had the "talent" to go with it.

Just having a little fun playing with my machine tools.

My hope is that one of the "real machinists" looks at what I have done and makes some really nice hubs so others can enjoy them.

:D

P.S. I heard about the show you gave the Heli-Freaks. Keep up the good work.
