Well, I've got it together, but now have to wait for a carb changeout. I had a 677 carb on my G231 and wanted the 643. Nathan at Rick's was super helpful and had to get involved with Horizon Hobby to make the swap happen. I should get it in a day or so... I guess that's ok as the weather is turning crappy and I wouldn't be able to put it in the air anyway (I'm not as brave as John!).
The build went pretty straight-foreward, however using JR servos and a Multiplex receiver required a little different setup than in the instructions. I'll take a shot at doing the paint scheme on the canopy. I'm hoping it will be on the wild side.

The 677 is a POS and is not suitable for operating a gas motor. If you've got one get rid of it and get a 603, 643, 644 or 645. I have several postings about getting one for $35 shipped.

Does the kit come with the servo bridges as shown on Dale's finished Spectra G?

Well, my 643 carb hasn't shown up yet, but tomorrow I'll be going to pick up my 644 carb from Alan. This carb, as he describes it, is just like the 643, but adds a choke. So, if you were to run an aftermarket air filter, like the K&N shown on the prototype/box, you would either need a carb with a choke or put up with some funky cold starting techniques! The choke in the stock motor is in the air filter.
So, the 643 carb is the recommended carb fo my stock G231 engine & has a primer bulb but no choke, the 644 adds the choke and the 645 doesn't have a bulb.

I would go with the 644 just for the choke. I have a 645 now and as long as I don't go to an air filter I can easily choke it with my finger.

Any of the three 643, 644 or 645 will do just fine. They are the same other than the primer bulb/choke. I personally don't like the choke plate in the carb, it get's in the way. I took Wills off of his carb (a 645).
643- primer bulb, no choke (choke in air filter box).
644- primer bulb and choke in carb body.
645- no primer bulb, choke in carb body.
any of the carbs will support the primer bulb if installed.
I have found choking totally unnecessary.

Wow that is a spectacle to gaze at for hours. It's a beautiful looking machine. My friend just ordered one. He should have it by end of the week. Can't wait to see it. :D :)

hate to sound like an idiot but what is a servo bridge? Is it needed only for JR servos? Thanks for any replies

This is a custom made servo support (bridge) made by Ron Darling for a Raptor 90, but you get the idea. I did not have a closeup of a MA one on hand, sorry. I don't think the brand of servo you are using matter, bu tI may be wrong. I run Futaba. From what I understand they help keep slop from developing in your servo output gear by relieving the side loads. (I may be wrong about that to, so please correct me somebody)

Look at the second and 4th pictures of the Spectra above. The little CF piece that seems to cut across the servo disk is the bridge. The servo arm screw is replaced by a post that screws in and the CF bridge has a bearing that this post slides into. The whole bridge is kept just above the servo arm by standoffs and the appropriate length screws. MA has PEM nuts sunk into the Fury frames to accept these additional screws. The bridge helps keep the servo push/pull straight as Baja170 says and also keeps the arm on the output shaft, as there is no way the arm can work itself loose and fall off... (I've never had that happen on any heli though).
