I am using the align 500 PRO landing gear and the align 500 skid pipe. they work just fine.
The reason for using the 500 pro gear insted of the old 500 ones, the new ones are made for a little narrower frame spacing of the 500 PRO.
Also I nice little thing that I did was use the align 600 boom supports. the align 550E supports work as well. I had 550 supports but after a crash deciede to go with 600 ones as they are much stiffer. but if your trying to cut on weight, the 550E ones are very light weight. I went with the align carbon fiber boom supports because I just did not like the silver look of the stock X5 ones. I like the carbon look.

Did you have to do any surface prep?
Did you just use spray paint?
Are you happy with the results?

not a bad idea, that might save me a few bucks, when every i get around to crashing the thing ill get new ones and just paint the stock ones. hopefully i wont need to replace them for a long time.

i just wiped them down with alcohol and i used ceramic spray paint from an auto parts store. It's paint used for engine blocks/headers/calipers.
Took a few coats.
