Does this need to be set up on the radio (ff7) or in phoenix itself? Never set any idle ups on my helli before so I am sorry if this comes across as a silly Q!
Thanks Kam.

It probably depends on your radio. I setup my 6 and 7 channel radios to use the idle-up curve in the radio. If you have enough channels, you can use the idle-up built into Phoenix.

You may wish to look at the sticky thread labeled:
Post your channel maps on this thread. I setup a DX7 (7 channel) radio using the radio to handle the idle-up function in Phoenix.

As I think everyone should practice autorotation landings, even if from a meter or so off the ground, everyone should have their idle-up setup correctly in their radio.

I use the Phoenix Idle-up function on a switch without using a swash mix in my radio, just linear channels.
It's a old futaba FF6 without CCPM.
So i guess for me it's hard to make these settings or i should use my F8U instead.
But how can i check the pitch settings of the (predefined) Phoenix idle-up and throttle hold function?
It seems to work OK, but i have no idea where to find this stuff.

Still not crystal clear :? I tried setting the idle up in the radio but when I flick the switch the heli just shoots up even with the thottle stick in the neg position so I must be doing something wrong. Can any one please help? I am using a Futaba FF7 radio and I am still fairly new to all this.

Thanks Kam.

Im using a FF7 too.
You have to go to the pitch/throttle settings on your Tx.
Then scroll through N, idle 1, idle 2 till you get to the screen where you can ACTIVATE your idle-ups.
On the FF7, "INH" is OFF, and "OFF" is ON. (yeah, i know. its stupid. lol)
After doing that, you should set your idle-ups.

For testing, you could go with:

N: P1=40 P2=45 P3=50 P4=75 P5=100
T1=0 T2=25 T3= 50 T4=75 T5=100

Idle 1 (and/or idle 2):

P1=0 P2=25 P3=50 P4=75 P5=100
T1=100 T2=100 T3=100 T4=100 T5=100

I hope this helps. If not, please dont hesitate to ask again, maybe explaining where exactly it went wrong.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice jwz, Still having problems though, I have the pitch and throttle curves set up as you said (they were already like that) and when I switch to idle up (switch E) the throttle goes to 100% and the heli shoots up and moving the stick to the neg ( down) makes no difference.

I have the radio set on H1 in heli mode I think this is the setting which gives NO ccpm which is why I used it, It works fine in normal mode just the idle up I cant seem to get. Any help would be great

When you press and hold 'mode/page', you get to the FIRST screen where you can find the menu to adjust your NORMAL pitch and thottle.
Press 'mode/page' once, and you will get to another page where you can adjust several other things.

There you will have to go to the submenu 'thottle' and set your normal, idle1 and idle2 throttle.

It sounds like you've forgot to go to the 'pitch' menu also to set your idle1 and idle2 pitch.

It's a bit hard to remember, but in NORMAL mode, your pitch should go (approx) from 45% to 100%

In IDLE, it should be 0%-100%.

If this doesnt help, describe in detail what your pitch/throttle settings are (and in which menus), and describe your problems further.

Then I will make a walkthrough for you to follow.

It can be a bit buggy to setup the curves correctly, but with a clean overview it's not as hard as you think.
