The power source for the WK2800 pro is 8 x 1.2V (NiCad) or 1.5V (dry) batteries. (9.6V-12V)
and the current drain is 120mA@10mW or 230mA@100mW.
My question: Can I use 3 cells of LiPo 340mAh batteries for this transmitter?

Specifications:
Battery Type: Lithium Polymer
Typ. Capacity: 340 mAh
Nominal Voltage: 3.7 V
Height: 2.6 mm
Length: 41.2 mm
Width: 34 mm
Weight: 8 g
Number of Cells: 1
Wire: 11mm
Note: PCM, 11mm wires

Note: I can buy these batteries (3.7V/370 mAH) at a local surplus store for $1.00/each.
Thanks.

i run a 3 cell 500mah turnigy 11.1v lipowith the cells at 3.80v each.

i believe 7.6v is the default alarm voltage for the 2801

I got a 2500mah 3 cell from hobbyking. It lasts months.

Running a 850mah 11.1v trex 450 flight pack. Its good for about 10 hours until it hits about 11v. Plug and play replacement. Remember to set the low volatage cutoff to 10.8v so you don't toast the battery if you forget to turn of the tx.

Guys

This info is useful as I want to use Lipos in my Walkera WK-2801 Pro instead on normal AA cells.

Cheers

Here is what I am running.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__16529__Turnigy_2650mAh_3S_1C_LLF_Tx_Pack_Futaba_ JR_.html

Works a treat just one problem I have noticed and that is I need to check the mode the handset is in after disconnecting it. I now charge it in the tx connected...through the balance taps

Did you have to add a connector to that Lipo in your link?

I know that the 2801pro uses a standard JST connector for the battery pack, but the one in your link does not look like it comes with a JST connector...

Hello,
Yes I swapped out the main plug for one that matched the socket on the tx. I can't remember what type it is... The red connector which is roughly 10mm long and 5mm wide...

I simply cut the connector off of something I had laying about they are easy to get from electronics shops.

Good info, sounds even better for an $11.00, 2200mAh, 10C battery!

Any danger keeping Lipo in the radio?
I dont fly everyday. Do i need to keep the radio lipo in storage? its a PITA to remember to keep radio battery in storage and remember to charge it before flight. I feel like taking it out of my radio.

yeah keep it at 3.80 per cell.....dont leave it in charged obviously as thats bad for lipo as im sure you well know.

i chain fly like today i flew 9 packs through Genius and 10 packs through V450D01. My turnigy 11.1 500 mah battery went down to 11.3 3.76per cell.

if you fly only a few packs a day i would just use AA's.

leaving it in the TX at storage level shouldnt be a problem either.Unless it spontaneously self combusted:wow2:

I have a lipo in mine, I use it maybe 3 times a year, always sitting at the correct voltage and no issues for me so far.

I think it has only been charged 3 times in its life.

with the low discharge rates of the application I am not worried about the problems associated with high internal resistance arising from leaving fully charged.

the lipo in mine is at least 2 years old.

cheers
