The only Tx you can use with the CX2 is a Spektrum DSM2 branded Tx. JR is coming out with a Spektrumized 9303 or you can wait to buy the JR modules to update your existing Tx. As for trainer cords, I have no clue.
The CX 4in1 is a standard Rx, but I don't know if it is positive or negative shift. So I don't know if it would work with your CX2. Personally, I would not bother. Use what you have.
As for the Raptor, well I too am self-taught. But I have made some progress. Mostly in learning how to set up a helicoptor and I can hover (not nose in well yet though). A properly set up helicoptor (including the Raptor) can be used to hover without crashing. Just detune it a bit. Use weights on the flybar. In normal mode, use a max of -3 pitch. Ger some training skids.
If they still made the Whitman training stand I'd tell you to buy one. I have one and they are great. They lock the heli to the ground, but give a controlled & limited movement in all three axis.
Bottom line, just fly. Your CX2 or your Raptor. Stick time is what is important in making progress. And if you have someone/club that can help even better.
