Im flying a Trex 450V2 and im loving it, but sadly the norwegian weather forces me to get something bigger that I can fly on normal days.

I have been looking at the Trex600 Nitro, but it's hard to beat the raptor line as fare as local expertice and parts supply goes.

But im abit lost as to what I should get. Seems the 30 size is less popular nowaday, and that 50 size is the more commonly used size? Are parts and blades much more expensive on the 50 compared to the 30 size?

Also, theres alot of versions out there. There V1 and V2, SE version and Titan version. Any recommendations on what I should be looking for? Im doing some poor figures8s and suchs with my Trex now, and judging by my progress on the sim, I aint to fare away from loops and rolls, but I dont think the close future holds any mad 3dz

Any advice on this subject would be greatly appriciated, and if someone got a word about how the 600N compare to the Raptor line, dont be shy

Your right about the 50 size being more popular then the 30. If I remember right the price wasn't much different but does go up when you get into a 60 or 90.

The new 600N is so new I doubt you will find much info on it yet but if its like anything else it will probably have a few initial issues which I am sure they will fix. If you know that going into it you won't be dissapointed.

Raptors are good, I had a 50. My only complaint is the canopy which is hard to paint because paint won't stick to it but I'm sure you can get aftermarket canopies for it. If you get one go to Raptor technique.com to get help and tips building and setting it up.

As far as which version, I always go with the most blinged out but thats just me. I know I will deck it out anyways so there's no point in buying the cheap version and replacing everything later. It not a matter of need, its a matter of want.

So whats a normal day in Norway? Pretty windy?

BTW, do you know Christian Nygard or their family?

Thanks for the advice, I might be in luck with a very very good deal on a used 50SE. Gonna go check it out now

Nygard is a pretty common name around here, but it does not ring a bell :)

The V1 you want to stay away from.

The 50V2 has been replaced by the Titan, the only current models are the V2SE and the Titan in the 50 size. The SE has a metal headblock, carbon fins and some other bling. The Titan is a V2 with some improvements and a longer boom and belt to swing 620 blades but without a metal headblock.

If you are buying new I'd get a Titan and eventually a metal headblock. If you get a good deal on a SE then go for it and add a Titan boom and belt when you tear it up.

Are there anywhere where I can download a PDF of the manual for the 50SE?

If you are buying new I'd get a Titan and eventually a metal headblock. If you get a good deal on a SE then go for it and add a Titan boom and belt when you tear it up.

I have been looking through the parts list for both the Titan and the SE to determine the exact differences (I want to get a 2nd Rap50 that I can "bling up" while flying my stock 50 V2) - also I get great satisfaction out of building and setting up and need something to get me through the rainy "no flying today" Sundays we get here in winter.

Apart from the obvious metal head and carbon fins and simulated carbon canopy on the SE and longer boom on the Titan I need a bit of help with spotting the differences and advice on which way to go.

I found it strange that the Titan has the new hardened main shaft (PV0451) and the SE parts list has the std one (AK0029 same as the V2).

What is there a difference with the skids (PV0035/PV0035-T)?

Does the SE have metal frame spacers all round? They mention stronger main frames - what is the difference?

SE manual states - Reinforced pitch control arm (both seem to use PV0012)? New main rotor? Bigger radial and thrust bearings (seem to be the same)? Different clutch bell (PV0358/PV0506) - what is the difference?

If the push/pull Pitch and Elevator is that good (Titan) why don't they have it on the "50 flagship" SE?

BarracudaHockey are you able to help me here please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi

I would think twice bout second hand if it is your first nitro and your still learning, as I find it is so much better to build new least you know how to fix it when you crash..

Another prob with second hand and being new is that you will not notice how much slop there is, and you might find it a bit of a false aconomy.. but then if all is good and you know what you are looking at and are confident in stripping and rebuilding then you might have a good deal. If you get the second hand you will need to strip most of it down and check that every thing is as it should be, and threed locked, you dont want to crash because of another persons mistake...

A friend of mine did that bought second hand on his second flight lost tail rudder because the ( c clips) where missing and ended up with a big bill...

The titan is a really good choice 50 size is not that much more than a 30 on parts. I would even say it is a better buy than the se, you can upgrade latter..

Why they didn't use the hardened main shaft or stainless steel flybar on the V2 is beyond me but I can tell you about fancy hardened shafts, in a crash you have a fancy hardened shaft....thats bent. The grips, thrust bearings etc are all the same as the v2 and titan, the Titan introduced a bigger bearing in the clutch bell but the V2 final kit runs were shipping with it. Push pull elevator is nice, easy on the servo output shaft.

The skids on the Titan are the same color as the boom supports and boom, Titanium, amusingly enough they changed names from "titanium" to "titan" late in the game and my friends Titan the decals actually say "Raptor 50 Titanium" mine say Titan.
