Hi,

I have a Jazz 55-10-32 in my Logo 14 using an Orbit 30-12 and EVO 20 10s1p 3700 mAh battery. I use a Futaba 12Z and a G3 receiver with the ATV for throttle set at 100 to 100 The speed control is set-up in Hei govenor mode. With the throttle, a straight line, Idle Up 1 set at 70% and Idle Up 2 at 90%. I start the heli up in Idle up 2. I understand that the Speed Controller will re-calibrate itself upon start up each time.

The problem is that the head speed doesn't vary between Idle up 1 and 2. Are my ATV's set to too wide a range? Or should I drop my throttle points?

Also the firmware is an older version(7 I think). Could this be a problem? Should I have it updated by Hobby Services?

Thanks,
John

John,

You need to redo the programming. Set your normal throttle curve linear to 0-100%. Then reset the esc to mode 1. Than mode 4 foir heli governor, and if rotation needs to be reversed than mode 7. If you ever change pinion or a major power supply "lipo quality" change up you should always redo to mode 1 than 4. Once this is done you can than of course have your curves as you state and you will hear a difference. You may have changed pinion, lipo or something or perhaps your normal curve was not linear on initial programming as your 55-10-32 is not seeing the full range of your throttle which is why you are not hearing or seeing the change. If you get stuck or something does not seem right let us know, I can also call you if that helps as well no worry.

OICU812,

I need re-set the controller to mode 1 then a straightline, from 0 to 100, and run the heli? Moving the stick from 0 to 100 trottle. Then reset to mode 4.

How did you run the heli up? I would think at 0 pitch through the whole range?

I pretty much changed everything from when I set the Speed controller up. Thanks for the help.

Thanks,
John

All you need to do is set a linear throttle curve (0-100) on your Tx. Then program mode 4 (heli) and mode 9 (lipo). After that, make sure the jumper is back on the ESC and the very first time you spool up after programming, move the throttle to full up position for about 4 seconds. This is when the throttle end points are set in the ESC. After that, you can set your flat curves for gov mode and forget it.

When calibrating the throttle, some people do prefer to set 0 pitch all the way across but with the slow start on this ESC it won't spool up enough in 4 seconds to be a problem. It is safer to set 0 pitch just in case.

exactly, the heli will not spool up in programming mode and by the sounds of it that is exactly what is wrong if you have never actually set it up or taught the controller your endpoints of your tx.

I did the set-up before but I changed everything since then. I will try what your recommending as soon as the 30+ mph winds stop.

Thanks guys!

That worked perfectly. Thanks.

Will reprogramming to mode 4(heli) after programming mode 9(Lipo) erase the mode 9 programming?

Thanks,
John

That one I'm not 100% sure about but I would say no. Just to be sure you can program mode 9 again just to be on the safe side.

Remember if you reprogram any modes, make sure to calibrate the throttle again.
