Wow, Nice. How can you tell the 'old' z-power from the new one?

Damn thats a nice heli
I think my Z was the older version (Not the Gary version). Sorry guys I didnt mean to be negative about the motor, but I am serious in saying it failed on first flight. Is that the trex style brick - 6s1p 4900mah pack. I too am slightly concerned now about fitting 8s as a brick and a measurement would be great.

From what I have seen the older Zpower motors are red and chrome while the newer Zpower A series are blue and chrome. they also say ZxxA-xxx

Absolutely make sure you get the new "A" motor. They older ones will not hold up well. I had one of the Century motors and it just came apart in flight.

What servos will fit the logo 500?

OICU812
05-22-2007, 01:37 AM
Any full size or mid size servo will fit. They made the newest line able to fit both mid size such as 9650, or JR3421s, to full size such as 9451 Futabas, 9252s etc....

Thanks Shawn, so are most putting full size or are they still thinking mid size?

Well I can tell you the authority, overall strength and accuracy will be much superior with a full size servo. And for the most part decent FS servos are not more money than say a 9650 or 3421 anyways. Those who are scraping for weight and wish to run super light might opt to go mid size, I certainly will be running the FS servos on the 500 + 6003D helis. Hope that all helps you.

Yes that helps, I was trying to decide what to order. I think I will get with the FS as well only because I want to run the Vstab and I am sure it like the larger servos

Yea for sure if you ar e running VStabi than absolutely get the FS servos, that would be a nice peice of mind, while you are at it get MG servos of your choice to.

In the not so distant past, we used 69 oz/in servos on machines that were not CCPM, so a SINGLE servo had to work collective, a SINGLE servo on aileron, and a SINGLE servo on elevator. For the few of us that don't run 5000 rpms on the head and don't stall the blades for blade farting every 10 seconds,.. I'd think that the 9650's at 62.5 oz/in (on 6V) should be more than ample. You're basically using 3 servos for each function, so where we had 69 oz/in in the past for each function, it would actually be 186 oz/in (yes something less than that due to the decreased resolution with the smaller movements, but I think everyone will understand my thinking). I plan on 9650's for the 600, and it may even end up stretched to a larger size on high voltage. I understand that the other 99.999999% of the population that does run insane rpms and strives for constant blade farting, may not want to go with the smaller servos, but for a few of us I think the 9650's are more than adequate

I was planning on switching to HS6965's but was talked out of full size servos so I'm just going to transplant my 9650's. Saves me $250 anyway. If I go V-bar I may rethink the full size servos again.

Gary, I understand what you are saying I run 9650's on my currect logo 10 and with the V-stab I have stripped the servos in the air

Gary i totally agree i see no advantage using the large servos in the 500- L10 as mine perform flawless on the Jr3421's.I basically feel all you are dong is adding unwanted wieght .But in the 600 the bigger servos should be a plus

There has been a lot of great info. posted since this thread started,
Was wondering if someone can summarize/make suggestions for what they view as a great setup for strong 3D,

1. Motor and pinion size
2. ESC
3. Blades and length - will you stretch the boom and if so, what length to.
4. Servos
5. Gyro.

Thanks for everyones informative input,
Jeff H.
