I've got the "upgrade itch". I've heard that a metal swashplate is the most helpful upgrade for the caliber 30s...what is the best single upgrade for the caliber-5?

Thanks Laurens for a helpful response!

I ordered the carbon blades. What paddles to use / find to be best? What is your source?

At this moment I use Vpaddles but I don't like the finish on them. I'd try Stubz or SAB.

I hear great stories about TT greenies too.

Seems a lot of people run the greenies on Cals just having a hard time finding any. Another option i may do is getting a cyclic ring and increasing the cyclic pitch. I've recently moved the pitch link to the outer hole which has increased cyclic quite a bit.

Upgrades from stock i'd recommend are (In no particular order):

1) EMS kit - tightens up slop and stops the nodding in forward flight
2) Metal Tail rotor pulleys
3) Upgrade to a better muffler - The stock one is still pretty good though
4) Carbon tail rotor blades - the stock ones are pretty spongy

Chris at rcheliworks sells a really good upgrade on for the head, it's the metal collar here is the link, that is worth while takes out the slop that will show up with them from the plastic collar, then like the previous users mentioned, new counter gear, bring her up to 2000rpm, green paddles, and caron tail blades as well as the mr, o with radix 95MM on the back and 600 on the MR, they fly really nice.

Oh and dont forget to upgrade to the EMS kit it's really worth while.

Wow! :noteworthy I am not worthy.

I get the feeling that I am just not in the "mains stream" of this hobby. If I could just stop crashing long enough to afford some upgrades...

The green paddles work well. The only problem is the flybar threads into plastic. I had one rip off the flybar in flite.
The most worthy uprgade is the 15 tooth countergear. TR blades are another stock item that should be replaced, but not absolutely necesarry.

Here's the greenies in action.
