Mercuriell, WOW... I have not got a gear like that that was warped in that way. I have changed 4 myself. Yours looked warped possibly by heat or something?

Anyway nice idea for the fix BUT..... I would worry that the gear would float now and possibly move against the bevel drive gear thus leaving no backlash.

As a tip I would then use green locktite or thin CA to secure the inner race of the bearing to the plastic so the gear wont move forward. Just an idea to save premature wearing of the gears should the one gear move forward.

Added in clutch relining - removal of engine block, gear pinion block, cleaning clutch housing and gluing in new lining - few tips, not a difficult job overall and a view of governor sensor damage from the fan.

Thanks John for a very comprehensive vidoes on the 401/611 gyro, can't wait for the other two parts. No doubt gyro's are the most ask question on the forum and now we have another place to point people to.

Started a section on Neu motors - a victim of their own success the wait for repair at the San Diego factory is now over 4 weeks - those equiped with suitable tools and know how may choose to have a go at fixing the motors themselves especially if you live on the other side of the planet from Neutronics !

Basically replacement of bearings or a popped end cap is pretty straightforward - the problems comes if the bearings collapse which then allows the stator to graunch into the rotor wirings and destroy the brittle (and $$$) Neodymium stator magnets- so pay good heed to the advice on the Neu website (http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/Heli%20Motors.html):

Note for heli motors! Be sure that you check the motor bearings for noise every few flights. Excessive side loads on the front shaft can damage the bearings which can lead to bearing failure. Be sure to double check gear mesh and make sure it is not too tight! If there is noticeable play in the bearings they are making noise then it is time to have the motor checked! Damage of this type may not be covered as a warranty! Use your ears and avoid problems. This is most important for the 3D type fliers!

All my videos are on this thread - have only done bits of 600 build like crash repauir and main grips upgrade - Bob has done the real deal (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=13791) :noteworthy
