Looking to get my first heli, probably a TREX 450. I basically have nothing (did order the G3.5 sim though) so what am I looking at for total cost. Figure I need batteries, charger, radio, spare parts and tools.
$$ is not really a problem but I don't need top of the line everything.
What am I looking at for total cost?

Depends on new or used, do you have radio gear, if not what gear you want to use..etc.
$1000 is a good starting place. You can get one decently setup with nice electronics and a nice radio for that used (heck probably new).

Agreed!!!! Easily $1500 to $2000 USD for your first ...... considering tools, charger/balancer, power supply, batteries, spares, servos, gyro, Tx/Rx, and SE V2 kit.
This is cheap compared to what I have spent on flying real aircraft!!!!

I got a 450SE (v1) with JR 7202, 3x DS285s, R790 scanselect SPCM, HS-50, Telebee Gyro, 2 2150mAh packs, cheap LiPo charger, 2 pairs of blades from <heli hobby> for ~$859. Came with tools you get by with, but ball link pliers and a better charger were first upgrades... Shipping was like $20.
