MCPx hit me in the face.

I had major eye surgery on Friday. I have stitches in my eyes and it
Freaking hurts. I am taking time released morphine followed by
Vicodin as needed. About 9 I decided I wanted a good nights sleep so I also took an ambien.

Now that I am properly medicated, it seemed a good time to try and front flip my MCPx. In the living room I nailed the Christmas tree. I picked up the heli and let my wife know, "I got this!".

I did flip the heli and it came back and hit me in the mouth. Now my wife knows for sure I am an idiot. It was a nice cut. I washed it with alcohol and closed it up with super glue. Rock on!

Seroiusly, though, these little buggers can and will do some damage. I let mine get me in the bicep when I was doing the initial setup and messing around with it, and it left a nasty little welt that stayed with me for five or six days. Now that it's brushless, I think I'll keep it at least a dozen feet or so away from me at all times.....

I'm not sure that prescription opioids, not to mention sleeping meds, and RC helicopters mix very well :rotf.

So to sum this all up, after having eye surgery, you got as high as a kite on not one, but 2 pain killers and then attempted to fly an rc heli AFTER taking ambien? That had bad news written all over it dude!!! How else could it have turned out?

My girlfriend flew my MCPX and almost crashed it into us, I grabbed it from the sky though. Got minor cuts on my hand, we are talking almost like a paper cut. I wouldn't say it was unsafe but I could see it if hit your face with the softer tissue it could do more damage. As for hand damage, I highly recommend you just grab it, those little plastic blades dont hurt.

Those little plastic blades can do more than you think. I caught the tip of my finger on them while it was in idle up and it sliced through my nail and down the whole tip of my finger. Damn thing bled like crazy!!

my son cut his earlobe quite badly 1st shot he had of my mcpx , i did say to him just get it about 12-18 inches of floor but he ignored that and brought it straight up to head hight , he lost it and it cut his ear he bled like a pig for about 10 mins , after blood stopped he had another go and again head hight , yep you guessed it he lost it again this time it hit his head but just bruised him , thing is he isnt a kid he is 28 :arggg:

This is one of the dumbest things I've heard. Go ahead and develop the habit of grabbing the mCPX out of the air, and see what happens when you try it (out of habit or otherwise) with something bigger, or a brushless mCPX with a 6K-7K rotor speed. I absolutely guarantee you'll withdraw your recommendation.

Naw, 6 - 7k is nothing ;) How about try 10k RPM! We're talking 236 MPH or 347 feet per second... now that might make a "paper cut" :face

You do know there are easier ways to check blade tracking, right?

I could be wrong but I think one of the blades is tracking a bit high.

:-) i guess he knows that.. He is still a beginner but certainly did not expect this damage to the skin. He was bleeding like a pig at first. I just posted this for people who still think these tiny helicopters are toys.
I ve been "playing" around for a fee months now in the 600 class and then respect comes with it in the package...

Not to mention after a few rotor tip scrapes on a hard surface and you have a 'nice' little buzz saw just waiting for some flesh to chew up.

I joke but I'm glad that is the worst he had to suffer. A few inches higher and there would have been nothing to joke about.

I think it safe to say that anything with a spinning blade able to carry it aloft, whether a 'toy' or not is something one needs to have or develop a respect for the damage it can do.
