Hi All,
Any recommendations with regards to the mounting of the FMA IR sensor unit on my tail boom?
Specifically I noticed that it can be mounted with the sensors in a "X" pattern in relation to the boom or a "+"
From what I have seen most people are doing the "X"
Secondly does it make any difference how far along the boom it is mounted in relation to the shaft of the main blades?
Thanks,
Serge

You can't use the "+" pattern because the front sensor will be blocked by the mechanics/canopy and the rear sensor will be partially blocked by the tail fin. All 4 sensors need a clear view of the sky/ground.

Hi,
That certainly makes sense, but I have seen a few pictures with the sensor mounted this way on a heli ....
Thanks,

I found a very simple way of mounting on the boom of my Logo 14: a little gray two part clip together sadle for outdoor thick gray cable. Fits perfectly around the boom. Just clip together. CA a small sqaure of light ply diagnonally to the side which would normally be screwed against a wall. Double sided foamtape and IR sensor.

Hi ArthurP,
Thanks, I have no problem on how to mount the sensor, I was simply asking if there is any difference where along the tail boom one mounts the sensor.
Thanks,
Serge

No difference how far back you mount it, Serge.
I've never seen it mounted in the IR+ manner. I can't imagine their results were too good for elevator stabilization. I would likely work, just not well.

Arthur P.,
Could you post me a close up shot of the IR sensor plugs ap2000i side as well as a close up of the plug going into the ir sensor. I did not order the cable so I want to make one myself but don't have the pinouts. Hoping pictures could help.
Thanks,
Serge

Great thanks.
Do you have a shot of the connections going into the Ap2000i?

There's a shot of the connectors at the AP2000i in my gallery.

Here's a detail from the larger pic showing the TWO sevo connectors on the AP2000i side. Each has two wires connected:
* one red on signal and black on minus with noting on plus,
* one yellow on signal, and white on plus with nothing on minus.
