View Full Version : DX7 Gimbals are the suck

I converted over to a DX7 from my Futaba setup (7CHP). I like everything about it except two things: The countdown timer and the gimbals, particularly the collective action. Also, having to turn it off to switch models (oops, thats three!)

The sticks came fairly floppy compared to what I was used to so I tightened them all up a bit. The collective seems to be sticky, by this when you stop moving the stick at all, the next time you move it it has a slight drag to it. This feeling is very subtle, but annoying nonetheless. Tightening up the stick to where I like it enhances this issue, to the point where I run it looser than I want.

I think this may hit ebay next year...

My collective tension strap had some rough edges. I filed it smooth, added some silicone dielectric grease to the teeth contact area, and it is a lot better. Some also add another layer of hard plastic ... (like the stuff that protects products that you have to cut open to get at it!) shaped and drilled the same as the strap ... under the metal strap.

Couldn't you have just Spektrumized your Futaba with the new 2.4 gHz Tx module?
