From the Scorpion Motors Application Guide:

For a performance upgrade in the Trex 500, the HK-3026-1400 is the motor of choice. A 15 tooth pinion gear is normally used, and will provide you with unlimited 3D power. This motor can draw 10 amps more current than the 1600Kv model, so you will have to upgrade the stock speed controller to a larger model when using the 1400Kv motor. We recommend something in the 80 to 90 amp range.

Yep, thats why I'm running a 100A on my HC500 with this motor.

I have tried the 1600 with 14 and 15T pinions, and the 1400 with 16 and 17 pinions...I settled on the 16 to get 2700 with no bog. The 1400/17 was ABUSE on my Lipos...not cool!

The 16T seems to be a better choice w the 1400. The 1600 with a 15 would bog the motor a little at 11 degrees collective, but the 1400/16 is great!

Just make sure to check your lipo temps and how many mah you charge back in. The 1400 likes to beat up lipos. I get 4 minutes flight time with 2650 mah TP packs.

Very true, I had to dial back my timer, the Scorpion 1400 was really eating up my lipo's compared to the stock 1400 motor I had been using.
