OK found a little history. Kalt started the Baron line in 1976 and before that they made Schulter helis. The first Baron in 1976 was a FP 20 sized heli. The Baron 30 did not come out till 1990.
I had a Baron 20 CP (with an OS .28) in 1982. It was the new model with bell hiller mixing and had just come out.

So not possible to have had a Baron in 1974 or a 30 from 1976.

BTW what cracks me up and I still have my old manual is what the manuals were like back then!

So people that complain about manuals, etc today have NO CLUE what it was like back then. You had to learn the hard way and be a modeler.....

I stand corrected Sir Finless your right, I must be losing my memory faster than I thought ?
I called my brother (Gary) to see if he could remember it any better and confirmed the time frame you have.
He also told me it was actually a 20 CP not a 30 (Mr. Hitchcoche lost the decals for it ?) but the sight you had showed the one I got from him, same bird except Gary said it didn't have an OS 28 it had a K&B 25 that Joe had put in.
Gary also reminded me the radio was that crazy Futaba single stick heli the gold one with the rudder knob on the stick and the throttle on a slider on the side.
Considering Mr.Hitchcoche was 86 and I was 17 at the time (I'm now 47) I see where all the misinformation happened, and I'm sorry I was wrong.
You are the man Finless thanks for the help. :noteworthy:noteworthy:noteworthy
P.S. I grabbed a pic off the site you posted and thats the one I had.

Well back when I flew my 20 gyros existed but no one was using them as they were way too much money and wouldn't really fit on this size heli. So we all flew with no gyros thus had no wag. But yes depending on what you did you did get a spring back from the wire. We all just got use to it and flew around it. 3D flying like today didn't really exist. Loops, rolls, piro'ing hovers or piro FF but no piro mixed maneuvers like today. No way would the wire drive hold up to todays flying.

You got that right.
Oh BTW my brother called today to tell me it was for sure 1982 when I got that bird.
He also remind me how forgetful Joe was at his age and confirmed Joe did say it was a 76 Baron 30, and reminisced about the time he left his car running all night locked in the garage.
Sorry if I had the dates wrong, but thanks for clearing it up. :clappp

My neighbour, who used to own the LHS gave me a heli the other weekend. He has a couple of others but is mostly into planes. He had this kicking around in his basement with another complete kit still in the box. He put 2.4 ghz Walkera electonics system in it. I've had it in the air once but it kind of had a mind of it's own as the gyro needs setting up and it could use a full going over. I'm just not to familiar with Walkera products. Going to try and find some time this weekend. It might fly not bad when setup correctly, or it may be a waste of time turd. Here it is beside my other turd, I mean SR.
