View Full Version : AR6100 rx servo and throttle connections

Help Im totally new... I have a trex V2 and on the spektrum AR6100 RX each channel has 3 pins to connect the servos, and the speed controller, however it seems the connectors on the speed controller and servos can connect either way round, which is the correct way to connect these? I am confused and do not want to do any damage as this is my first build.

Thanks for any help, photos or diagrams would be great!

If you are looking down at the AR6100 from above with the antennas at the top and the pins at the bottom. The side of the connectors with the pins exposed should be facing right.
Sorry I dont have my digital camera with me at the mo.

The three wires are: signal (usually white or green), power (usually red or orange), and ground (usually brown or black). In the receiver, all the power pins are connected together and all of the ground pins are connected together. The signal and ground wires are on opposite ends, with power being in the middle. If you have a multimeter, set it to the ohms scale and check any two pins on the radio that are on the same outside row. If there is continuity (zero ohms) then that row of pins is the ground wire. The opposite row is for signal. The center pin is for power.

Here's an attempt to make a sketch. There are 6 channels, each having 3 pins under the channel number. The middle row of pins are for power, the red wire, and all the middle pins are connected together. The two outside rows, top and bottom row, are for either ground or signal. To find out which, you could check the bottom row with the meter, with one probe on channel 1 and the other probe on channel 2, for example. If you get continuity, about zero ohms, then that row is the ground (black wire) and the top row is for signal (white wire).

Assuming any 2 pins on the bottom row are internally connected (zero ohms between them) then the connectors would connect like this:

xxxxxx (ground - black wire) [pins on this row are connected together internally]

If the opposite is the case, if the top row pins are connected together and the bottom row pins are not connected together, then just flip the plug over so that the signal wire is on the bottom pin. The cheapest Radio Shack multimeter you can get will do. If you're not sure how to do a continuity test get someone at the store to show you.

If you plug it up backwards I don't think it will hurt anything; it just won't work.
