Is there a way to couple the start/stop of the timer with the movement of the collective, as is possible on the futaba gear.

if you find a way let me know. I'd like to have it start/stop with the throttle hold switch ;)

yes, that is a better idea - not sure if there is way - but if anyone has any ideas of how to start/stop the timer with the throttle hold - I'm all ears.

I threw away my IC manuals so I can not tell you the chip number, but a simple one shot between the hold switch and the timer switch would do it. You could mount the IC by soldering its ground pin, to any ground, wiring a convenient voltage to the pin. Run a wire to both switches. These wires could be as small as wire wrap wire. Ten minutes work??

I do not think there is a built-in solution which is a shame. Not even sure if this feature is present in the JR9303/DX9 ?

Jack's idea is worth considering if you don't mind tossing your warranty and have the skills.
