I bought the micro-heli stainless steel main shaft thinking that it wouldn't bend as easily as the stock main shaft. It hasn't bent yet, but the retaining pin sheared off.

The e-flight pins are a little too big for the hole in the new main shaft. I've been using paper clips to fasten the center hub to the main shaft, but they break way too easily.

The instructions with the new shaft list the pin size as 1.5mm, but that seems wrong since I thought the e-flight pins were 1mm and they are too big.

Any ideas on a suitable replacement for the retaining pin?

The motor shaft of used tail motor fit the CP2. It might just fit your shaft. Smash the armature with a hammer. Peal off the bits and you will end up with a hardened pin that's good for two.
