My package from HH just arrived, and I couldn't resist taking it down to the underground garage for a quick test flight...er...coffee break. This little thing is the perfect living room flier. I flies just the way I always wanted my MSR to fly. Fast, controllable, and no TBE or washout in FFF! Awesome. The perfect living room complement to the MCPx, which I fly mainly outside since I'm not capable of living room 3d just yet.

Great job E-Flight! Kudos! :clap

Totally agreed! Mine was waiting on my door step when I got home tonight. Only flew 3 batts through it so far. I'm pretty new to helis so just taking it slow and easy but having no trouble controlling it.

It flies really stable and really does go where you tell it to. I've only flown fixed pitch so far so I'm getting used to the need to counteract any control inputs but it's fun!

It truly is exactly what I wanted in a living room flier!

While i have a slower learning curve, When my MSRX showed up last night i had it hovering so stable i could actually release the controls and it would hover on its own for a little while.

My mSR was getting boring at times indoors due to its very tame nature, The MSRX definetly as livened up my flight times indoors.

FUN FUN FUN! :D

I flew mine for the first time today. A whole lot more fun than the MSR. Quick but not as quick as the MCPX. I have a very small living room and I am a lot more fun with the MSRX than I did with the MCPX in my small living room

Good to hear all the positive feed back! Mine shows up tomorrow. If all the problems that plagued the original are truly fixed, (they seem to be) I will be one happy customer!

You guys are all enablers!

Great to hear such grand reviews, what TX are you fellows using?

Im using a DX6i as id say most people are, And my main adjustment was to set it at 70% dual rate and +15% expo for indoor flight.
The rest of the settings im still playing with and im not the best to copy from except what i just posted above as i know thats good settings from my mSR days and taming it when i first got it.

Just came home from LHS with the MSR X. Battery charging. Guess I'll have to buy some of the new batteries because my other ones from the MSR hardly last about 30 seconds.

Just in and I flew three test flights. Awesome!!! Right in between the mCPx and the old MSR as far as flying skill required. I thought I noticed just a little vibration, so I tried the mCPx grommet mod on the swashplate arms using mCX canopy o-rings. Seems smoother, but wasn't really bad before. Noticed an ever so slight pendulum affect, so I am planning to check the CG while batteries charge. Need better batteries! The eFlite 12C 150mah cells get real warm and last four minutes tops. I bet the new 25C cells will be much better. This things draws some current for such a small heli!

CG was right on with the battery pushed all the way forward. Swash needed leveling and that definitely helped! Still has some pitch coupling to yaw, especially when going left. Smooth as silk in a hover and piros to the right are easy.

I'll add to the thread by saying I'm as happy with the new mSR X as I was dissapointed by the mSR. It's a little squirrelly at first. But once I got used to it, it's a blast to fly. The new board makes it super responsive so I had to tame down the TX settings on my DX6i. The original mSR just never lived up to it's potential.

I bought me an msrX today, neat little bird. Its a sight better than the 1st gen msr, slight TBE (if you can even call it that), fast for an msr (but not mcpx like). The only thing that sucks is I bought the BNF, and Im having to use my 130 NT's....so 2 hard minutes till LVC:arggg:

But no regrets so far...
The only part I see it shares with the 1st gen is the head links (they seem to be the same length and ball size?)
Hit the wife in her bare leg with it..........apparently the increased head speed and new blades hurt??LOL!:rotf

Be carefull as i found an odd thing out. The MSRX parts that look identicle to mSR parts both have completly differant part numbers. The only reason i can see for do that is they reformulated the plastic and its more durable for the much more powerful MSRX.
I cant prove anything, But it makes no sense to use differant part numbers if they are the exact same parts,

I wonder if the new part numbers are a sign the MSR will be phased out, as some others have suggested...

I took delivery of two this morning and I've been flying pretty much continuously for the last couple of hours.

Only two problems: my face is beginning to ache from the massive grin, and my wife can't hear the TV over the squeals of delight. Today this 50-something is going-on-ten again :)

It's so exactly right, being somewhere between the mSR which I can fly well enough for it not to be particularly exciting any more, and the mCP X which will continue to be bags of fun for years yet to come but which scares me indoors. Flightwise very similar to the mCP X, and crash survivability and safetywise very similar to the mSR.

Delighted!

I broke a ball off a blade grip when I piled it into the wall full speed earlier today. Put a spare grip I had for my 1st gen, looks identical, works fine...as do the links. I would prefer the softer plastic, as it will be more forgiving. Looks like the rotor hub and feathering shaft would interchange too..dunno? I dont care what part numbers they use, as long as it works:rotf I flew the piss outta this thing today I absolutely LOVE IT! It handles good enough and flies fast enough to not be boring in 5 min, but its not rowdy like a mcpx. It even did good outside in a slight breeze. Got the 1st gen out just to see how much it really compared....two turns to TBE later and I put it away..no comparison in my book.

I give it

Eflite nailed it with this one. It is what the Genius was trying to be without needing to be collective.

I hope this one stays around for a very long time. I can't see anywhere it would need improvement. It's the absolute perfect indoor flyer.

It is everything I hoped it would be. The few times I took my mSR outside it was a pain to wrestle control away from the fly bar and the always impending pendulum effect. Today for the third pack I decided to go outdoors and practice my banked turns and figure eights. It behaved just as the mCPx did on the simulator. I almost forgot I was flying a FP heli. The light breeze had very little effect on flight which remained stable. I am very pleased.

Have flown it outside and inside and this thing is fast. You have to be on the ball with this one.Yet it is very stable in the hover and goes where you put it. It does remind me of my Mcp x. Horizon did a great job on this one also.

Blade/HH hit a home run! Love this thing when the tx is setup with Ric66 settings (see dx6i settings thread). Really throwing it around already. IMHO it feels more like a mcpx then an msr.

There are lots of parts in common, even if they have different part numbers. The entire mSR rotor head is 100% compatible. In fact, it's exactly the same thing. So much so that I'm flying with zero difference on an entire mSR head because I wanted to see if it worked. Well, it worked perfectly, so I just left it on. I broke a ball off one of my mSR X blade grips, so I went to the mSR spare parts box. Everything is exactly the same. The grips, hub, O-rings, washers and spindle. You just need two extra head damper O-rings because, unlike the mSR, one goes over each grip ball before snapping on the links. Yes, the links are exactly the same, too. The nice thing is the mSR four pack spare part baggie gets you two complete sets for the mSR X since, obviously, it uses half the links.

All of the tail parts are 100% compatible as well. Only difference is the vertical fin with different color stickers, but the mSR fin still fits fine.

WRONG. Horizon didn't go through all the trouble/expense to reformulate a new plastic for this heli...and it's certainly NOT "much more powerful". Mine has *maybe* a little more "punch" than my old mSR. It's also the same damned plastic used in the much "harder flying" mCP X. We've been through this before elsewhere.
