I have CSM10, G2, Reflex and Reflex XTR and now G3.
After 30 minutes of flying, G3 is BY FAR my favorite Simulator I have ever owned. I just did my first inverted autos! I am sooooo stoked.
Thank you Knife Edge Studios!! I have found the sim for me!

Think I'm going to give G3 a shot. Been using RF since it came out... controller has a game port connector  Called KnifeEdge, they advised to get a Radio Shack GamePort --> USB adapter #26-164, works like a charm... no need to get to the rear of the machine anymore. Reflex has a lot of fans and lots of other flyers willing to give help, but Wolfgang seems to be among the missing when help is needed... emails go unanswered. Vitek is here to assist a lot... for me, support is one feature that you can't beat :!:

You say that u have done your first inverted auto. Can u do them with a model. If not you dont think that it is too easy to do stuff with do u. I can do inverted autos on G2.

I have never even tried inverted autos with the real thing. No balls.... yet. I went through a year where I tore up helis 2 or 3 times a month until Clintstone worked with me and taught me how to be safe and smart about my flying. At that time my goal was to make it through 2 gallons without crashing. I have now gone for over 6 months without crashing. :)
I have never practiced autos (upright or inverted) much with G2 because it was so unlike the real thing. Yea I could muddle through them, but I feel like what is the point if it is nowhere like the real thing. I used G2 just to work on orientation, orientation, orientation and inverted hovering and flight.
From the first auto I tried on G3, it is WAY more realistic and very much like flying my real helis, that the second or third auto I did was inverted and they just felt right. G3 seems way more realistic to me than G2 in feel of the helicopter. I still cannot do funnels very well, although I did the best inverted funnel I have ever done on G3 tonight.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I do what I can safely and conservatively, and I don't practice stuff on a sim that I feel is gonna take away from my slowly developing skills with the real thing. With G3, I can see myself practicing way more trick autos on the sim and using thes skills I develop in my real heli flying. The disconnection I felt with G2 between the real thing and the sim is now minimized to a very large degree.
I thought you guys had G3 in your shop. You don't like it? You think it is easier than flying the real thing?

Are you replying to me. If you are how did u know. I havnt been able to play with the helis yet. I didn't like airplanes all that much

Yes I am. There are a lot of FREAKS in Fla. :)
Try the helis, I would be very curious to hear what you think once you try them.

How did u know that I had one in the shop if u are in North Carolina cause it is my dad that runs the store and we have simulators up I just havnt been over since they got the helis on it. I will be other there this weekend though

Like I said, there are a lot of HeliFreaks in FLA. The heli community sticks together and word of new hobby shops travels fast. ;)

Same people who told me Big Al had some great deals going on HiMax motors and metal gearboxes, so I bought 3. :)

Will.... The G3 does auto a little on the easy side... not far off, but the blades will hold a little less energy in the real thing.

Cant u solve that problem by lightening the blades a little. I dont have it now to use could you try that and then tell me what u think

Yes, you can change all sorts of things to make the heli fly and auto diffretnly...
But the default Domionin 3D 90 does auto a little on the easy side... Great way for learning those 3D autos though!

awww man, I thought it was me. :(
I just did some inverted autos on G2 and I can do them now after procticing over 100 on G3!! G3 ROCKS!! I can't keep myself away from it. I was up at 3AM flying the Pete's Dominion!
Your work has definitely payed off. It may auto a little easier, but the overall feel is WAY more polished than G2. G3 is a winner.
I would LOVE to see some 3D Foamies added to the planks though. Maybe a shockflyer, or one of Eric Larsons Big Kahunas or some other great flying foamies. I have my G2 setup with a bunch of funfly planes and the 3D PERSO Ultimate and I like them better than any of the planks I have tried in G3. Looking forward to 3rd party planks to play with in G3.

It is possible that there are some losses that we don't model yet. As with G2, we will continue to make improvements to G3.
I would LOVE to see some 3D Foamies added to the planks though
If there is something you would like to see in the sim, please let us know (http://www.knifeedge.com/voteairplanes.htm).

Vitek do u do some of the programing with the airplanes. I havnt flown the helis yet but just an Idea for the airplanes is that with the 3D planes there is way to much throw and no expo. Before I started flying helis that was all I flew was 3D planes. so I went in and just toned down some of the throw ( just a little ) and added a LOT of expo and now it flys very well. Just a thought because after that I thought it flew very well.

I didn't work directly on the airplanes. I don't fly planks much, and I've never flown one that was setup for aerobatics. I do know that many of the 3D aircraft are _very_ sensitive to elevator inputs in their stock form and need to have the CG moved around to make them fly 'right'.
Some of the planks were updated in the heli release. There is a new variant of the Yak that flies much better, but still has some bad tendencies.

Yeah. Many airplane pilots have mentioned this. If another pass is made through the planes, I'll see about getting changes like this in.

Can you share the planes you modify with the rest of us FREAKS please Kyle. Just zip them up and attach to a post would be great. Thank you in advance.
It woudl be a very nice time saver and fun for everybody.
Thank you in advance!!! :)

Vitek yes 3D airplanes are supposed to have a lot of throw but to fly around u need to be smooth so thats what the expo does.
Baja The only problem is at the store we dont have internet and I am not sure on how to do it anyway. All you have to do is go into the setup and take some of the throw out. like 5 degrees and then find were the expo is and bump it up to like 70-80 percent. Yes 80 percent it may seem like a lot put that is what everyone flys at.

Interesting Kyle. Thank you for sharing the information. WOW 80% I'll try it!
Thank you,

What the 80% does is it allows you to fly around and do some nice smooth stuff and then when you would like to do a wall or anything violent or even something that needs a lot of throw you can move the stick all the way. I was flying the E3D and that has way to much throw in the ailerons it rolls way to fast. Unflyable fast.

The E3D reminds me alot of a Extreme Flight Mini 3D, which rolls that fast.
I fly hours of G3 a day ot my store and find that if you want to fly smooth with the Yak, go to low rates. You can make some of the prettiest lines on low rates. then a wall is a flick of a switch away. 80% expo makes your stick a on/off switch. I will post my mods to the Yak next time I am in my store. It flys awesome.
3D Foamies would be cool, but I dont think that Great Planes has any Foamies that are worth putting on there, it any at all.
I am Very pleased with the planes and extremely happy with the helis on G3.

We are open to putting aircraft in the sim that aren't distributed by Great Planes. I don't think the E3D or the IFO are distributed by GP/Hobbico. The only issue is getting rights to those aircraft.

Awesome. I'm glad you are liking it.

That is GREAT that G3 is open to input from the people who use it.
That ROCKS!! You guys ROCK!!
