Hi All..and Merry Christmas !

Santa, bless him, he went and got me a BL conversion...but in diy form ! (AEO CO5 equivalent and 5a esc)

I believe I have installed it all correctly but the esc goes automatically into programming mode...

I've had a read up on here and tried the usual, trim, endpoint, stick position stuff to no avail..

I'm confident that the yellow wire IS soldered well onto the 3-in-one..the ship binds all ok, t/r works but stuck in programming mode (using Field Force Nine with Spektrum DM8).

I've attached a pic from the instuctions, I soldered to side B.....

Just looking at the side B and side A instructions..there seems to be a little conflict there..

Have I soldered the yellow wire in the right place ??

If, so, is there any way to check that the esc/converter are working ??

Many thanks as always

Kev

Using Side A is the actual prefered method.

Curious how you have your Convertor wired also. Are you getting constant beeps, or is there a littly melody that plays when you plug everything in. Pics will do wonders if you could get some up so we can see how everything is wired up.

Thanks for the lightning reply

My esc/converter is a pre-prepared all-in-one...

The esc beeps once, then twice, then three times, then four..right up to fifteen, so it's in programming mode..( http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=3215562&postcount=9 )

Happy to take some pics if it will help ?

quick update...

just had another fiddle...

when I power up with throttle trim full low, throttle stick full low....the esc starts the 1,2,3,4...etc. beeps..if I then move throttle stick up then the beeping changes and I start hearing programming beeps...then I drop the throttle stick back down..the beeps soon stop and she spools up at about half throttle (even tho throttle stick is full down)..puzzling...but it would appear the yellow wire connection is good...but is it connected in the right place ?....I notice from my attached image that the solding postions for the yellow wire are different on side A and B of the board..not just opposite on the board like I had automatically assumed...would you guys suggest I try soldering to the 'preferred' position as mentioned above ??

Merry Christmas folks :peace:peace:peace:peace

Glad its all sorted!

Im assuming your all in 1 uses the AEO convertor. I recall people having problems using the Side B point as per AEO's instructions.

Hi

Yep, 'tis the AEO converter in there...

I did trawl through some threads but didn't find that relevant info regarding side B

You were there just at the right time for me..much appreciated...I'm off to bed a happy bunny ready for some Xmas Day brushless time !

Cheers Buddy

the aoe is a good starter brushless mod if its wired right you shouldnt have any problems
I was using one till my steve converter died, thats another story

I did have to remove the red power wire on the steve convertor and put a 1k resistor in its place so it would pull the power needed. but if your using all aeo that shouldnt be a big issue but you might try it it wouldnt hurt.
I really need to know the details as to whats going on to help you get it installed right
and as someone said the side a solder point is much better than any other method
your throttle becomes much better from side a
I could help you out over the phone if you want

Thanks Satgod..it's all working now..noticably more power/less bogging but..sometimes I'm having to help it spool up..I'd heard this of the 5a ESCs...anyone know of a fix apart from upgrading the ESC ??

Many thanks

Check your mounting screws. A handful of people use C05M had screws that were too long causing them to hit the inner winding's. I had to shorten mine with a dremel just a tad.

the 5amp with the c05 had no problems at all for me
you might try putting a 2.2k resistor across the motor plug terminals this will be a pullup resistor that might bring your start voltage up to where you need it
also, the 1k resistor in place of the power wire for the converter may fix this problem also. the 1k fixed all my issues

Hi Satgod

It's not causing me a problem, as it works most of the time, just sometimes i have to give the head a little twist to get it going

Can you run that info by me again a little more 'for dummies' though please
