View Full Version : Jazz and the soft start

I have the Jazz and Tango 48-08 in my Razor. If I decide to abort an auto, it takes forever for the blades to spool back up due to the soft start after the t-hold is released. Is there a way around the soft start only
during autos? I am using the 14MZ.

Thanks

I don't think so unless you choose to use a mode other then helicopter. And doing so means you can't use the govornor. The other option may be the programming card. I know espirit model sells the card.

I have never tested this but, here is a possible option:

Set a minimum throttle curve to something above 0. Try different values to see where the Jazz does not trigger softstart. Assign that curve to some unused switch. Now, when you auto, use that switch instead of throttle hold. Use throttle hold for safety, i.e. 0 throttle.

The idea is, if you don't pull the throttle all the way to 0, the Jazz might not assume this is a start-up event. Something like 5% throttle will still auto but, might "fool" the Jazz into thinking it is just a low throttle instead of full-off.

Good luck and, as always, safety first.

Jrohland,

this procedure does work very well. I only completely cut throttle at demo flights, but always reduce it to 15- 20% throttle (per switch) when i only practice autos.

I can`t imagine you`ll get headspeed back in a useful time, if you cut off throttle and go thru softstart in a emergency situation...

Just commit to it, no big deal. :D

I have not bailed on an auto in almost 2 years. Rock on Shawn.

On some machines you will need to run slight T curve in hold like Marcel to eliminate soft start, but also use throttle delay to keep from stripping your main gear when you click out to idle up especially if you don't click out at zero degrees every time.

Yeah, guess I just gotta have the balls to stay in it! Besides, most times the tail cant catch up in time anyway.
