Having been a flyer for a whole whopping 2 times out (7 tanks total). I was curious to know how long has anyone gone without crashing?
I mean, is there such a person out there that has never crashed and been flying for years?
Maybe this could be a poll...Longest period of 0 crashes...

I have been back to flying Helis since Feb 2003. I have crashed 5 times, and I still suck. :)
I have heard there are people who don't crash much but I don't fly with many of them. heheheh

2 crashes since I started (2002 i think) First crash was my raptor 50v1 balling up inflight, second was a botched auto that didn't bend the mainshaft (but did a number on my ncie blades :()
No-one will hold it against you if you fly a little higher up.

4 Weeks
I was flipping at 3 weeks
Tried holding it inverted halfway through the flip (nose in inverted) and freaked out, threw in positive collective instead of negative and down she went. For pics of the crash and the resulting new canopy visit, www.raptorcrashmasters.com/terry.htm

Well I heard that if it's not over $50 in parts it's not a crash
My record is with my newly converted E-Raven at 26 flights and counting
I did do $700 worth of crashing in 1 month last year (that was tough)
I spent A LOT of time on the reflex sim this winter and now in the words of Bobby Hill (Hank Hills son)

I hardly ever crash. But then again I hardly ever take any chances, either.
You can't be too afraid of crashing. It's a part of flying (didn't Forrest Gump say that?). Anyway, if you expect to learn you have to be willing to "push the envelope". Except for the occasional mechanical failure, it is possible to never have a crash. You just have to ask yourself how quickly you want to learn.
I know some guys who crash once a week. But after flying for only two months, they are doing stationary flips and inverted autos.

I never crashed for my first year, I went from learning to hover into doing loops, rolls, stalls and some limited inverted with out crashing. For the last 3 years since then I have on avarage 3 bad ones a year that I dumb thumb in. I have only had 3 failures that caused a crash on top of the normal 3 a year.
It is part of the hobby and will happen for everyone no matter what. The trouble is having the balls to admit you thumbed it in and not a glitch or something like that.

well we wont talk about me crashing  but there was someone on RR that said he has been flying an X-Cell 30 (or was it a 46/50) for 10 years and has never crashed it..
OK, so I have crashed 9 time in 2 years,,,,,, my antenna pulled out on 1, only 4 was do to stupid thumbs, 2 where do to a low head speed (when I was really new to the hobby), another 1 do to a wire burning on the muffler and one do to a flame-out about 5 feet high after a loop,,, my last 3 crashes all happened within like 9 flights (last fall) (get it, fall),,, it could have been better but I feel that's not to bad...

I think a crash should be defined as : Any event that renders the heli bent, and un-flyable that same day. I've bent some tailtubes over my knee, and continued doing bad autos! If you're flying, you will crash! The guy with the Xcell, may be burning fuel, but he's not "flying". Also, at the price we are all willing to pay, equipment failures will always be an issue. ie. Pepper's servo failure. If servos cost $500 a piece, I'm sure they could be better, but not failure proof.

hey Al, how it going.
i have no problem crashing, it's gona happen!! i can deal with me doing something wrong but it chaps my hide when the equipment goes wrong but you can't help that either. in all reality the invert crash wound up being as if i just tiped it over and it wasn't a bad crash at all so i feel very lucky!!

Hey Pepper! You're right, crashing is part of the deal. I look at it as an opportunity to look everything over well, re-grease the bearings, etc.

boy, i have been greasing alot of bearings here recently . lol

I have been informed by the involved parties that they do not crash once a week. It's more like once every two weeks.
Sorry for the error. I will try harder in the future to get my facts straight! :P

I think ~Jeremy~ has NEVER Crashed-- he is doing Autos, flips, rolls, inverted, and is apperently trying to learn a CAOS.

One way is to connect a 4.8V receiver pack (comes with a lot of radio sets or can be purchased for $20) to the battery slot on the receiver. You can also disconnect two wires from the ESC to the motor (no spin up) and plug your flight battery into the ESC as usual. Be careful, some servos do not like 6V and none like to be stalled against a mechanical stop which can happen in set up if you've go something set up incorrectly. You can also heat up the ESC in set up because the BEC might be overworking and you don't have cooling air flowing over the ESC so check that ESC temperature during set up.
