Hey, Guys !

This is my very first post/thread on this forum, so I want to start by introducing myself. My name is Oliver, I'm 31 years old and I live in the north of Germany. 2 years ago I re-entered the world of RC modeling after a break of .... uuuhhh ... 15 years! I started again with some parkzone planes and had a lot of fun since my "comeback" - but I realized that to get into the world of RC helis. I got a Blade msr, later a mcpx, started to fly hours in my Phoenix-SIM and now I'm addicted ! :)

After a long time of reading (forums, manuals, books), studying and so on I decided to buy a Protos 500 (Plastic, SAB, YGE60, Scorpion). I took my time and enjoyed the building very much. Now I have to install the electronics (Gyro, receiver,...).

But looking into the broken bags that contained all the pieces/parts of the heli make me feel "unsure". Even the building process ist allready done, there are still "a lot" of parts (screws, washers, ...) in these bags! Is it normal? I used the newest manual (1.05) and I don't think that I've overseen any important steps in the manual.

It would be nice, if some of you guys, would share their experiences.

THANKS !

LG,
Oliver

Oliver, Welcome to the world of heli! I am a pilot, I fly C-182 and have been in and out of the RC world. Bought a sig to fly but was board with the small challange, I purchased a Trex 500 which I to am now putting together. I have found that the manufacture may slip a couple of extra parts in the bags i.e. screws, bolts and washers. Why? you may ask? I think it's in case of dropping one on the floor and it decides to eat it....I never seem to able to find them once they are there, or because they know you will lose one in flight.

I've almost completed my build, and had alot of extra parts, however I did the Flybarless upgrade.

Was short a 2 screws and a washer, but found them in the spares bag or in the unused flybarred parts.

For the most part, doesn't seem like I got any extra parts. consider yourself lucky.

Hi !

Thank you both for the fast response !

@sgtriley: I wish, I could say that it make me feel better, but our helis are produced by different companies. While Align seems to put some spare parts in the bags of the "normal" parts, MSH delivers an extra bag for these parts. That's the reason why I feel confused. In my opinion all the spare parts should be in the "spare parts bag" and not anywhere else...

@wbefield: Ooohh man... That doesn't sound good to me... ok, you decided to go FBL while I, as a beginner, wanted to make my first steps with the flybar, just to learn and get into it. It should be normal that there are unused parts if you build the FBL version. But if you have missed regular parts during your build, then something cannot be ok in my case. Why should someone have more or less parts than other people? The differences should be very low, I think...

Anybody else having the same problem ?

Grettings,
Oliver

There a bunch of spare parts in the kits.

I had a few myself.

Welcome to the protos Oliver!. There were many spare parts in my cf kit also. As long as you've followed the manual and everything is where it should be, the extra parts are a bonus. As far as i know from experience and from what i've read generally there are more parts than necessary-have only heard of 1 or 2 times where parts were missing. Enjoy your protos mate!!!

Hey, guys !

Thank you very much for your answers ! Now I really feel better !

To be safe, I'll have one more look over all the building steps in the manual and check if there are any failures.
As a beginner it was kind of bad feeling seeing that there are "so many" parts not used during the building process. If you are not very experienced some things can be confusing but all in all I'm very happy with the way things going on. I've completed the building now and just started to setup the Microbeast (for the beginning in gyro-mode). After that there is some more "fine tuning" to do and hopefully I can start learning to hover next weekend !:peace

Thanks !

Greetings,
Oliver
