So when is it necessary to rebind with your RX?

When:
1) You get a new receiver.
2) You switch an existing receiver to a new model, and therefore a new memory.
3) When you change setup so much that, during the few seconds the RX powers up and places servos at "memorized at bind" positions before it finds the TX, that the servos might bind. And/or other setup reasons. A classic example is gain on a Helicopter Gyro. Most gyros must see a "Heading Hold" gain setting to initialize properly. Since they are init-ing before the RX finds the TX, it's important that the gain channel have a "memorized at bind" setting for HH. To summarize: Rebind if you change your setup signficantly.
That's it. No need to periodically rebind or anything like that.
So, my habit is to bind an RX when I first install it in the model (to enable setup), and to re-bind once as a "last check" before the maiden flight. Well, next to last... there's obviously some other checks just before that maiden. :)

Same here although sometimes I'll re-bind just because.
