I've been experiencing a lot of failures with my Swift's landing gear struts. A rough-not hard- landing seems enough to break them where they start to wrap around the skids. They always fail at the same spot and usually the breaks are surporisingly similar in shape. This leads me to believe that manufacturing stresses are built in. What has anyone tried for an aftermarket gear that will pretty much bolt on ?

Hey,
I must admit to never having this happen to me, even in a crash but hit at the right angles it could no doubt break something.
One thing you could try is boiling the U/C struts in a saucepan full of boiling water for 10/15 minutes. With any molded plastic this supposedly removes any molding stresses in the plastic and makes it a little less brittle. The side effect is the plastic then becomes a little softer and so you may then experience model droop :WOW
But it may be worth a god.
As for another after market U/C, myself I am still holding out for a nice neon colour set to be released by someone. If I could mold myself I'd be making them as it's one thing to jazz the model up with.

I have been useing the century hawk landing gear struts, they just need two new holes for the mounting bolts, the ally skids are the same so use your old swift ones.you need to use the rear spacers from the swift as the legs are wider and lower .
