Thanks, Noah

sorry for being incompetent

I found this: http://www.fromeco.org/achargers.htm?id=66
but it doesnt not appear to have integrated balancing....The charger I have now does and I also dnt understand how a baancer can work for a batt that only has a 2 wire lead but is 3s????

can someone give me some info on balacing technology because I think I need to buy this crazy cube :)

Check out the GreatPlanes Polycharge4

It will charge up to 4 packs at a time, $99.
It's not a balance charger though you can hang your own off the batt's balance tap.

I am also in the market for a respectable Lipo charger. The GP's that You mentioned would be Great, but I don't understand the part about the balancer. Would I need to buy a balancer also? Is there a comparable Charger out there that also balances?

I'm just looking to Buy Once, so I would like to find a charger that is safe, will last and will just basically do what I need it to do......

Thanx!

You don't need a balancer to use it, but then you won't get your packs balanced :)

My packs seem to take care of themselves - as in they stay in balance well on their own. I have a Duratrax ICE (non- balancing charger), the Polycharge4 and a Cellpro. I rotate my packs through the Cellpro but of course since the Polycharge4 does 4x as many, packs go through the Polycharge4 a few times before the Cellpro.

I don't torture my packs, and I don't fly them below say 30-40% (mostly have airplanes) which may be a good reason why they stay in balance.

You can't beat the Cellpro for a balancing charger, so if you're okay with charging 1 pack at a time, get that. For more than 1 pack you can just keep adding Cellpro's which is likely cheaper than getting a multiple pack charger that also has a built in balancer.

Some people already have standalone balancers, so getting a Polycharge4 which doesn't balance isn't a big deal. Other people aren't as committed to believing that the only way to charge a lipo is to do with balancing (I'm in this boat). Certainly my experience shows I don't need to balance with every charge.

You can also charge 3 x 3S packs (same capacity) with a 1010C and 210V at the same time.

There is a diagram out for a special connector that will allow you to connect them to three of the 210V connectors at the same time. You would need a 3S cable to hook the three packs up in series to the 1010C.

Thanks guys for the help. I have a 205v, so maybe I will check out a polycharge4.

Probedude, What voltage does the poly usually leave your batt's at when fully charged?

thanks, Noah

You know, I don't remember

I got it many months ago and checked it out back then. One of the channels was dead on at 12.6V for a 3S pack. The other 3 were I think were about 0.1V below that.

Next time I use it I'll measure the end voltage. I won't be flying for a couple of weeks though - well really I am but I won't be taking the Polycharge4 on vacation with me so I can't tell you until I get back.
