I would like to establish a network of Freaks. I would like to have a list of goto guys around the Country , who are able and willing to help with setup and just getting guys off on the right foot. For example a guy walks into a Hobbyshop we could have a network where they could contact one of us, hopefully have a large list and have it broken down into different areas around the country so we are up to date on what is suported in the local shops for that area or atleast what the guys are flying in the area. I would first like to see what kind of response this post generates.

Keep in mind by volunteering you will be promoting the Hobby but lets be honest with our ability and knowledge and then if you can make the direct contact to help someone and you need help from there it will be easily obtained. I have a pretty good plan for this network if you guys are interested.
Please post here and if you want to talk PM me also and we can make this thing happen. For example we will do a profile which can be updated and as your reputar (sp ) grows we can update it . I want to start recording the people that the Freak reaches and this will also do this. More later, headed to get parts for a New Freak...........

Hey Clintstone,
I would be glad to help anyone with setup or any other problem they might have with their helis. I'm not a hotdog 3D pilot but, I do fly when it is possible and I love helis and talking with other people about helis. So, if there is anyone in northeast Arkansas or close to me I would love to help. I have helped many around this area with helis but, I feel there are more that just don't know who to ask for help. Maybe this forum will spread the word and I can get some new flying buddies.

Thanks Sam

Me to Clint. I am no hotdog 3D pilot either, but I have definitely learned how to setup a heli thanks to you. I would be very happy to help the cause.

This is a very great idea!! You ROCK Clintstone!!

Clint,
You really puzzle me.
I thought that was what the AMA, IRCHA was for and then Craig has tried to start up the NRCHSA as another national organization and there is the pilot locator list (worldwide) and there are local rc aircraft hobby clubs throughout the world. Several of the local rc heli pilots visited the Black Sheep flying field for a mini-invasion and setup clinic during the summer and we have improved a great deal since. We have also had the pleasure of passing the information and assistance along to others who have stepped up and asked for help. Instead of duplicating efforts for a national organization, why not pick one that will serve to aid and promote the hobby. Working together will have an impact to improve the confidence of new pilots and help us all to network information not available otherwise. The Helifreak message board has improved communication exchange as well as some other message boards. For a beginner to feel welcome at flying with experienced rc heli pilots is a big step. Having a pilot progression system makes sense to me but it needs to be clearly described that a beginner can follow what the goal is.
This is just my opinion but, I am all in favor of helping a new rc heli pilot at getting started. I am not saying your goals are wrong, just wondering why a national organization (AMA, IRCHA) does not already do this for the hobby.

I think this is Clints point... you cant walk up to IRCHA or the AMA in general and say..."help me set up my heli" Clint is looking for actual people who are willing to step forward and say "Hey...if Im in your area and you need help setting up your heli or helping you learn to fly then I'm your guy." The pilot locator does a good job of bringing us all together to fly with one another but few on there are willing to give their time and talents to help another or some arent experienced enough. This is JUST a network...not an organization. I have not talked to Clint about this idea and the first I heard of it was right here... but I know Clint... and I know how he helps and enjoys seeing the people that he has helped help others... Its a pyramid scam without the money and the scam

Thanks for the clarification Bart.
Many pilots I have encountered in the hobby have been very helpful when asked questions and I have attempted to help out where I could with new pilots. What would be useful to me would be to see a description of pilot skill levels and the maneuvers that are included in that skill level.
Is that detail too premature for this thread ?

I'm in also Clintstone. I'm no killer 3D pilot, don't want to be. In fact Ray Stacy's nine year old son kicks all our butts with flying skills. He's be at it for two seasons, I've been at it more than ten times that! But I can get a heli to fly pretty decent! :)

Sign me up Clint. I am not the best flyer or setup guy, but I can definitely get a newbie going.

Clint,

Help in the Tampa Bay Area - Florida

I would be more that willing to help with the mechanical setup on Raptor 50's. I am not the best on the radio setups but we have people in our club that are more than willing to help with the Radio part of the setup

I am retired and willing to help where I can.

The Brandon Model Flyers club has some really good fliers and the club is Helicopter friendly.

Keep up the Great Work! Heli-Freaks Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in...
However I have gotten more than one e-mail off the Locator from a newbie asking for help or somebody puzzled by a poor setup.
In fact my current photography partner got in touch with me off the locator.

Anything we can do keep in touch with people locally or get someone started off is a good idea to me.
