About the Z30, we where at a heli meet this weekend (prolle and me), and one of swedens top 3D pilot took the hurricane for a ride... This was with a brand new FlightPower 6S 3300mA. MY GOD! I would have loved to show you this flight! The tic tocs where so fast you could barly see them, just like moving your hand really fast! Same with the snake! Really really impressive.
One of the F3C guys, who dosenīt really like electrics, was whispering behind my back when I flew my Z20-1470 (16T/61 pinion) heli on the same pack, -wow, that one is almost FASTER then mine... He flies a Freya 90. And you guys that know your heliīs know how this one moves along after thoose 150m dives... My HS was around +2400...Stock plastic everything with 535mm carbons. And yes, that was scary!

One thing that I donīt like with the Z30, is that its so easy to strip the main gear. I belive the new delrin gears will make this problem go away.

Delrin gears? Who is making these Tom... upgrade Gaui parts?

Also anyone have any news on the CF chassis upgrade, or a stronger canopy?

No, I donīt think Gaui will be making any soon...

I just talked to a company that makes this kind of stuff today. Waiting on price info.

So are the delrin gears you mention something you having made?

Ummmm we NEED GEARS! I have been talking to Rotorworkz and Helidirect about them..... Time will tell but I think the heli needs to become popular (which I think it will) before we see after market stuff.....

I still think this platform will make a awesome heli! I just wish I had more time to commit to it :)

I have to agree... it is an awesome heli, and the price makes it even more attractive. A few minor fixes, the metal upgrade parts and a decent motor transform it into a lightweight power-house.

More and more firms are now stocking it, and the price seems to continue to fall (well you get more and more parts thrown in for the same price, batteries etc).

With all the bling, and the stock kit, you're looking at an all in price for around $550... of course if Gaui bring out a pro version, this will surely be less. As such the stock kit is a great entry to larger helis and the metal upgrades dont break the bank when you're ready to bling.

IMHO, to become truely popular, you need to see kits without motor and ESC bundled for circa $220-250... this will make it appeal to more people who want to make their own power system choices.

Improved gears, canopy and GF/CF chassis have to be the primary parts aftermarket firms work on... the Gaui metal parts seem very well made and ideally priced.

Gents,

My Hurricane is on its way. Probably got stuck at customs :bomb: ...story of my life hehe.
But a question regarding the main blades. So far i didnt like woodies on any of my heli's, so i'm guessing it will be the same with this heli...
I'm already looking for some cf blades. I can get a few for a nice price, but they are 550 mm. Is that o.k.? or am i getting in trouble with this length?

thanks,
Maurice

The Logo 500 CF blades worked great on my heli.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I noticed that link a few post back already :D and i saw you flying them in the vid.
Maybe i should have added that i already looked overthere.
Shipment costs to get them from readyheli is allmost the same cost as the blades themself hehe (yeah ...i'm dutch haha)
But i might get them afterall since they seem to work well.

Thanks,
Maurice

Hmm.. the problem with powerfull motors and gears might just be over.
Maybe there is no need for Delrin gears after all?

Look whats comming to town

Hmmm interesting... I assume the extra top bearing solves gear wear?
Not sure I understand why unless Gaui is seeing a problem whe shaft movement?

where could you buy that upgrade?

how many amps does the 550 draw on bursts?
would a 3250mAh 15-25c, about 80 amps maximum work on the stock engine?

You canīt buy it anywhere just yet. They are on the way over here...

What kind of cells are 15-25C? Sound like a strange number. You better think of them as 15C, and then, 48A is still OK for gentle flights.

I now have Delrin gears comming, they will be about 21$ a piece. Not cheap, I know, but they will hold up for larger motors with out stripping! 2-3 weeks deliverytime.

Bob, I donīt know if Gaui is right about the upgrade, but it will for sure help.

Bob? Just a quick question;
Is the T-Rex 600 ballinks a good option to the Raptor links?
I have trouble getting my hands on some raptors but the 600 I can get easely.
Cheers,
David

No... the Trex600 links are too short as well.

Is it really necessary to use the longer raptor links? I mounted the balls offset but flipped my servo wheels over to get the balls closer to the bellcrank and my links are perfect in length.
I don't get any binding issues... :?:

I got severe binding not having the offsets be oriented the same... You will see when you set up the radio and put in pitch and cyclic!

Finally I have fly the bird on a123 7S standard motor 15T, MS 515 Carbon blades setup-NOT ENOUGH POWER AND HEAD SPEED is about 1500 in normal, 1700 in Idle 100% :( it is good only for hovering and flat flight, Then I switched to 2170 FP pack-much more power, the bird flew much better :)
But in the end of my fly I've made a mistake during auto and crashed(it was really windy here today)
Guys, BE CAREFUL, If you've got metal blade grips, REASSEMBLE ARMS AND USE LONGER SCREWS AND LOCKTITE THERE! :bomb:

I havent put mine on yet... Which screws Piranha?

If you look on blade grip-it is made from two parts, Massive body(grip itself) and arm which is screwed by hex screw to the body of the grip, there is only two or tree thread turns :(

OK thanks. I will have a look at that.. Sheesh! You would think they would get this right on an upgrade!

No, Bob. You will not get binding if you have same offset on both wheels. The thing is, you can put the balls on the "inside" of the center line, just look a this picture of my setup.

Thanks for the vids Bob - I have one of these on the way.

Flunk, are you sure about that setup? I don't know, it just looks like it wouldn't work at all to me. Also, is that 1100mah rx pack in your Hurricane the one from the DX7? I was planning on using mine as well, but the frames look pretty narrow - not sure if it's gonna fit nicely. Thanks!

I just use one link per control. Works well enough on my Raptors and Fury.

The Spektrum rx pack is just a temporary solution. It fits between the frames on the underside.
The setup works just fine, try it, you'll see...
