That is one kewl canopy and your lady friend did one great job of painting it for you. Hope it was on the new FG canopy and not the older plastic one.

Cool HS calc, thanks!

I noticed the Hurricane images on that site's homepage look strangely familiar....

I'm using the 635 servos and i seem to have some height issues.
when i try to install the links on the servo wheel they are higher then
the the bell cranks end.

1. are these the correct servos to use?
2. do you install them with the rubber bumpers and brass bushings?

if these do not work which ones are recommended

It's OK to have that upward angle as long as the links dont rub on the servo wheels/arms and bind... If they do then try putting the balls on the iside of the wheels (or arms). If that doesnt work then see if you can lower your servos.

Hi Bob
You where talking about "increasing cyclic" on youre video, how do you do that with a DX7.

RevCo is looking at making a new 1st reduction gears for this bird.

Since there is nothing else running 0.8M pinions it makes sense to change the pitch of the first reduction gear to a more common size where there is an existing range of pinons in the right size range.

I propose .6M. There are guys running 8S on Logo 10's with .5M pinions so .6M will be plenty strong in this application

If I make a 68T .6M redcution gear for the Hurricane 500 you can get the ratio Finless wants to hit for the Z-Power 1100 with a 21T pinion.

68T (RevCo Reduction gear)/21T (Existing Leption Pinion) x 3.21 (Hurricane 500 Transmission ratio) = 10.39:1

You would have access to 18T to 23T pinions from RevCo and 24T and 26T pinions from Hirobo.

This will let you get the right ratio for a variety of motor and battery combos from 4S to 8S

The gears would be machined Acytal Delrin like the Perfect Circle Trex 450 gears. The gears would retail for ~$15.99...maybe less since they are smaller.

Let me know what you think.

FYI, I like the idea of the extended shaft keying in the motor mount. I think the gear stripping issue is from frame flex in the first reduction gear shaft.

Yea Adrian!!!! We need that for sure!
Let me know if you want me to test those man.....
It's about time we got some choices for this thing :)

Adrian, your 10T pinion version 2 just rocks on the T-Rex 600! No more white powder and you can set it up loose to the gear and it runs even more quiet than the 11T helicals!
With 10T Revco and Radix blades I get 7++ minutes flat 100% throttle with the 600XL and only put back 3600 in the FP4900's. The heli is so quiet it looks like it's running in stealth mode
Very efficient pinion! Revco Rocks! :glasses2:
(Sorry for the off topic in this Hurricane thread but I just had to say that)

Jeroen - I am glad all is well with the new pinion...have fun!

I am sending a reduction gear to my gear maker today. I will have samples to Finless in a couple of weeks.

Cool Adrian! I should have all my metal upgrades and a new motor ready to try by then!

I will be using the 600+ from my Century Swift on 6S.

Fung - 3 major things in Bob's vids that you can suggest to Gaui:

1) either make the linkage rods longer, or better yet, make the stock Gaui ball links the same length as Raptor ball links so they don't have to be hanging off only a few threads on the rods

2) make the servo screw holes smaller, as all the stock screws on Futaba and Hitec servos are too thin to thread into the servo screw holes. even the 9254 rudder servo stock screws were too thin to bite onto the plastic. They simply slid into the hole. Had to get fatter screws so they can bite onto the plastic.

3) remove the offsets, can you suggest they make it just standard arms...the offsets drove everyone crazy! :)

4) make the stock esc around 65-75 amps

anybody else want to add more ? :D

Finless
05-17-2007, 11:18 AM
Yea... a few more

1) FIX the short screws on the tail pitch slider ball and on the tail pitch slider control arm!

2) offer the kit without ESC and Motor

3) Offer an SE version with all the metal ;)

Shauntot, I dont see the problem with the screws as Gaui supplies screws for servo mounting. Why are you trying to use the screws that come with the servos?

LOOKIN GOOD! And I was always told Axi motors didnt work well on a heli ;)

Whats the gearing you are running?
What blades?
What ESC and settings?
Whats your idle up throttle curve?

Thanks for sharing,
Bob

I m planning to replace the stock ESC with a HV one.

Can the stock Gaui motor run with 7S ( 4S + 3S = 25.9v) ?

Heres my Hurricane 550. This was my 1st attempt at painting a canopy too, so dont be too hard on me! Its the stock plastic one and i used paints called Krylon Fusion - for anyone interested in painting the plastic. Got them from a local hardware store and they are made to bond to plastics - it goes on really easy and dries fast too. :D
