bob - hmm, my kit didnt come with screws for the servos, that's why i tried to use the stock servo screws that usually come with a servo. i ended up buying some fatter screws the same length of the stock servo screws and those bit into the plastic nicely. maybe it's just my kit :dontknow

A little heads up for all of your looking to buy the new GF canopy. It is beautifully finished and a considerable improvement in strength over the stock vac-formed one... a great addition at about $50.
But... and there had to be a but, they didn't mould in the little dimples where the rubber grommets go as per the vac-formed one, they just put holes in the side of the GF. As a result, pushing the standoffs into the rubbers into the holes of the GF canopy closes the rear end of it up a little too much and it will possibly bind on your pushrods to the swash!
To use the new canopy, you are going to need to make the stand-offs about 8-10mm further away from the chassis (on each side). A longer screw and a small plastic spacer should fix this, or the mounts off a different heli!

Hi,
I have this problem with the stock plastic canopy already. I had to trim a bit of the flat edge from the top side of the canopy.
I forgot to check it before i got it up in the air for the first time..."What's that klicking sound coming from...... :arggg: "

I sent a Hurricane reduction gear to my gear maker on Friday. I will have sample gears in 2 weeks.
Also, I just ordered a Hurricane 550, a few CNC bits and a Z30-1100 from Flying-Hobby

I knew you would be able to resist this heli Adrian.... Not for the price anyway :)

Hi
Has anyone had a problem with the stock motor? My Hurricane is really underpowered. I've changed esc & tried different batteries, but its still bad. I'm using a Tower pro Mega8 70a with 2* 2200mah 20C lipos. Pitch is +/-8. The lipos & esc are cool, but the motor get very hot very quickly. It bogs down really quickly at full throttle & never really recovers. I have to land it to let it have a rest!
I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions.
I love this heli, but its frustrating - I know it's capable of much more if I can get my set-up right.
Cheers Simon

Yeah, the stock motor is a bit of a dog, but yours sounds pretty bad. Maybe double check your gear mesh and belt tension, there could be too much drag on the powertrain. :dontknow

Hi Naruto
Thanks but I've already checked them both & I think they are ok. Its got loads of punch for about 30 seconds - it climbs fast at first but after about 30 seconds it can barely hover!
Are you still using the stock motor? I'm thinking of upgrading, but not sure which motor to go for. Maybe a Trex600 motor with some better lipos?

I had a Tower Pro 50 amp controller on my Hurricane for a while and it is a miserably inefficient controller. My Hurricane was lethargic using the Tower pro.
I have noticed a big difference in speed controls and controller settings
Currently I am running the stock motor on my heli with a 75 amp Align speed control. The motor temperature and the flight duration remained unchanged, but I have much more available power. While a little more power would be nice I have been very pleased with this combination. I am running + and - 10 degrees of pitch with no problems. I would try a different speed control before you ditch the stock motor.

just a quick question guys in my hurricane I am using two 3cell 2100 thunder power batteries and I am wondering for how long I should limit the time usage on these batteries for the first while
I have only flew them for 4 minutes for three cycles and put around 1100 MAH 's back in them each time should I be able to increase the time flying soon

I set my timer for 5 minutes, and after doing mild to medium 3D by the time I land I have flown 5:15 to 5:45. I put between 1500 to 1700 mah back into my packs. If your just hovering you should be good for 7 minutes.

but should I limit the time on new packs as sort of a break in
thanks for the reply x30

While break in is always debated, I do it and I fly 4-5 flights taking out only 50% of the capacity for break in.
So start with say 3 minutes and see what you put back.. should be close to 50%.
Do that 4-5 flights and you should be good to go from there.

Hi X30
Thanks - I'm going to try a new set of lipos & a different esc to see if that helps.
Had a go on my mates Trex600 earlier - its goes like a rocket. I dont think I'll ever get my Hurricane that hot!

Thanks for the wealth of information that you have Bob
I will do that as you suggest and go from there

I dont think I'll ever get my Hurricane that hot!
BET ME! and you can do it on 6S 2100's!!!!
You just need the right motor and a good ESC....
I have a set of 25C 2500's on the way and I am going to work on a ROCKET with this setup... I am worried about flight time but we will see ;)

I only want 4-5 mins of pretty hard 3D flying. Thats all my brain can take for now. So I am patiently waiting Bob's results of the motor test.

One of my flying buddy’s flew his Hurricane on a Trex 600 motor and that bird was hot!
He had two problems with this setup. He was going through the first plastic transmission gear every several flights. Gaui’s new motor mount should help with this.
The second problem was he could fly for only 3-1/2 minutes, but he was using very cheap batteries. It will be interesting to see what Bob comes up with.
Personally I am looking for a motor that’s more efficient than the stock one; I want a little more power without giving up flight time.

X30, then go for the Z20 KV980 motor, you gain flighttime and you also get alot more power! I now use a Z30 1110 in mine, and I could race anything! On 6S this one is fast! The new motor mount is a MUST! My friend did the same with the gears before, thats why I waited a little with the Z30, but now this thing rocks, and the gear problem is gone as well.

So could some one help me out here.....If I got the Hurricane 550 and one of these.....
Z-POWER Z20-KV980 With Fan
No:
USD: 89.00
and one of these......
Motor Mount Set
No: 204581
USD: 17.00
Would that work well with the standard ESC on 2X 3S Flight Power 2170s???? And also would it work with say a 5s 4500 battery as well?? (how do you mount a battery that big on this heli??)
I would like to know what sort of flight times I could get just crusing around with both types of battery please.
I have read that the standard ESC is not that great.
Any advice would be good
Thanks Kam.

I am glad to hear the gear problems are resolved with the new motor mount.
I am going to take your suggestion and try a Z20-980 as soon as I can get one.
I’ll let you know how it works out.
Thanks

In your video you talk about using raptor links and rods.
Are these from the E-raptor or the Nitro, which model.
Do you have some part numbers? :?:
