I sent a Hurricane reduction gear to my gear maker on Friday. I will have sample gears in 2 weeks.

Also, I just ordered a Hurricane 550, a few CNC bits and a Z30-1100 from Flying-Hobby

You could have got the heli localy from me in Texas

Hi

Has anyone had a problem with the stock motor? My Hurricane is really underpowered. I've changed esc & tried different batteries, but its still bad. I'm using a Tower pro Mega8 70a with 2* 2200mah 20C lipos. Pitch is +/-8. The lipos & esc are cool, but the motor get very hot very quickly. It bogs down really quickly at full throttle & never really recovers. I have to land it to let it have a rest!

I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

I love this heli, but its frustrating - I know it's capable of much more if I can get my set-up right.

Cheers Simon

One thing

Tower Pro bad

Change to Align 100 or even the 75 or Castle Creation

When it will run cool at all time

The issue can also be if the batterie's ar asked for more then 40A then the battery restistanse will force the voltage to drop

That can also come from the ESC

So change the ESC first and then USE EVO and allproblems are gone

I absolutly would have if I had known you existed. I actually looked and called 2 other US Hurricane importers to see if they had kits and I either got no response or they were out.

Do you have standard and option parts? If so you are my new best buddy!

Per also known as backman is a Good guy, I ordered my Kit from him.
At the time he was in Europe and he took care of me from there, i ordered it on Friday got it on Tuesday + he always answers his phone.
you deal direct with him no sales pitch no BS just straight answers.
As soon as he gets the complete CNC head kit i will order it from him.

Garcia - I think the raptor links are standard, whether for nitro or electric rappys. Try to get the standard rappy links, which are long and will compensate for the short gaui links. Get 2 bags (1 bag here in Singapore contains 10 links) so you'll have more than enough links including spares, they're dirt cheap anyway.

Also get the double short links as you need to use the rod in it, but combo the rods up with the gaui links instead. Will give you 90 degrees all throughout the head, and you'll be sure that all the links will be screwing deep enough into the rods for safety.

Just follow bob's video on the links using raptor links and all will nice and square. that's what I did :)

Thanks to Bob…I just noticed now, everything I know in how to assemble/setup a heli PROPERLY all came from bob's vids hehe. Thanks!

I can get the complete CNC head now with or without swashplate

I can also get the new motormount witch is a must

The new stylish fiber canopy

And i am working with Rotoworkz to creat a new lighter frame so you can use diffrent size servo's and a also a custom fit depending on your battery packs

Example 1

A fit for 2 3S1P cell's one up and one down simular as today

The 5S & 6S versin we are thinking of making it similar as the TREX 600 but we also have the option of moving it right under the head, i kepp you all posted on that

I"ll try again!!!

So could some one help me out here.....If I got the Hurricane 550 and one of these.....

Z-POWER Z20-KV980 With Fan
No:
USD: 89.00

and one of these......

Motor Mount Set
No: 204581
USD: 17.00 Which I think is the new motor mount)

Would that work well with the standard ESC on 2X 3S Flight Power 2170s???? And also would it work with say a 5s 4500 battery as well?? (how do you mount a battery that big on this heli??)

I would like to know what sort of flight times I could get just crusing around with both types of battery please.

I have read that the standard ESC is not that great.

Any advice would be good
Thanks Kam.

Bob - Have you done any tweaking to your tail servo and gyro setup after flying it? How much throw did you settle on?

The Hurricane is a new a relatively new machine and unlike the Trex there has not been a lot of experimenting with different motors by those of us on this forum so far. I can tell you how it flies on the stock motor, the Trex 600L and Thunder Tiger Ripper. Hopefully by next weekend I will be able to share with you my experience with the Z20-980 as it looks very promising.

Hi Kam!

The Z20 980KV works well on this heli, you don't need to upgrade with the new motor mount, the first gear will survive a Z20 motor!

I think a 5C 4500 battery will be slightly to big to fit well under the canopy,
I have tried Maxamps 5C 4000, this works, but a rubber band is needed to secure the bottom part of canopy since the pin can't be fixed.

I would guess you get 4-5 minutes of your batteries, less if you do some hard flying.
8-10 minutes with a 4000mAh 3D flying 12minutes crusing.

Happy flying
Patrik

Bob,

Looking at your hurricane flying vids (over and over again :D )

Did you manage to get the roll more perfect? I'm into rolls flips and loops since recently. But i can't get the rolls good....in the worst roll yet i even came flying backwards out of it.
You said in the vid it was because its tail heavy...So i'm a bit stuck here. I wonder if it is because i dont manage the cyclic well or that it really is tail heavy. How to check? It seems to be perfectly balanced when i take up the heli and hold it on the flybar (both sides near the head)

Another thing i'm going to check is ccpm interaction. (Or can i skip this because digital servo's are more precise?)

Thanks,
Maurice

Dutch - If you are running the stock motor and really rolling hard...and using lots of collective you are probably losing head speed and blowing out the tail.

If you heli is balancing at the flybar you should be good enough. I prefer to lift it with my figers at the center of the main gear for more accuracy but the flybar is good enough.

If your CG is OK and you have good head speed then it is either stick control or interactions.

Hi,

I am currently looking for a 1 Meter-Class Heli.

I think the Hurricane 550 will fit my budget and my flying cababilities quite well.

So, is it possible to fly and ballance (CG) the hurricane with a 3200 6s pack and not 2 3s packs? I think I read that it will fit under the hood. I own a Trex also but because of the chassie I cannot use bigger 3s packs (2500mAh e.g.), so I would like to go for 6s or 5s.

Or are there already pilots flying it with a 5s pack?

Thanks,
Carsten

6s3200mAh:s fits nicly under the hood. Atleast mine does, size 130x43x25 X 2

:D Good to hear!

What brand is this battery?

Best regards,
Carsten

PS: Maybe I will wait a bit and hope that more Logo 10 3d will arrive at the second hand marked. A Hurricane 550 with good components is still around 900Eur, so maybe a used Logo will be less and flies with 5s quite well. Maybe I change my mind after a first crash ;-)

@Dadde: What is the weight of your H550 and how does it perform with that weight? I am more a fan of nice round flown acrobatics than 3D.

Best Regards,
Carsten

bob or anyone else using 401/9254 with the stock esc and stock bec - did you guys have to put a step down regulator for the 9254? I've read somewhere it won't last long if more than 4.8 volts is used, i think the stock bec is pushing out 5.8v if i'm not mistaken.

or there's no need for the regulator?

Skaross

I use a regulator on mine - just buy the TRex600 item (can be purchased as a seperate item for around $3). The BEC supplied is identical to the Align item, just debadged, so the Align reg. works perfectly. You are correct, it puts out 5.8V.

Don't run your 9254 on 6V... not good for it.

skaross - it's this bec with regulator right?

Yes that is the reg your want for the tail servo... I did not know Align sold them seperatly? Also if you were to take one apart is it nothing more than a simple 5.1V blocking diode so you can make you own if you want.
