I made it easy for my self and moved the balls on the Hurricane controll arms.
I talked to Gaui when I visited them last november, and they told me that this would be an option, if you go with normal servoarms.
Take a look, and you see that there is two unused holes. Move the balls, so you get a straight input, then use what ever servo arms you see fit.
Tom, yes I saw that for the Aileron and Pitch but you CANT do that with the elevator bell crank as there are no extra holes to move the balls to! Thus moving just aileron and pitch and leaving elevator offset is asking for possible swash interactions. Not saying it wont work as I havent tried it but I think it would be better to have all 3 work the same. It would be nice if Gaui made a straight elevator bell crank as an option.
X30, I saw your picture. No offense but I dont like the link angles you have. I am anal and want them parallel. I am sure your setup works I just dont like things that way. What is your swash mix percents (what radio) with that setup?
As for links, I have tried Rocket City and they work as well as Raptor links. Both of these are long enough to get plenty of threads on the rods. Align Trex600 links WONT work as they are the same length as the Gaui links.
Smitty777 is sending me some JR large wheels so I will be using those as well as showing how to use the large JR heavy duty arms.
Bob, did you have any problems with the ball link connectors? Do they break easy? I'll buy the ball link sizing tool, and i'm in doubt, will it work with hurricane 550? Standard ball links found on most helicopters?
They DO need to be sized!!! I have had a problem with them breaking though. YES other links from other helis will work but so far what I have tried also needs to be sized.
In the end this is all workable just the links need to be replaced with longer ones or new rods made up if you use the Gaui links. I will be showing using longer links.

Right, ordered Raptor ball links and the sizing tool. What about double links? Are these likely to crack too?

Bob,
No offence taken, I agree with you that perfectly parallel is best.
I actually got the idea to do this from your video on the Trex CDE. I thought I would give it a try and if I did not like it I would go shopping for bigger wheels. This setup has worked extremely well with no interaction issues at all and it makes for a very fast setup.
Certainly the right way is parallel.
I am using a DX-7 , my swash settings are:
AILE -55%
ELEV-55%
PIT-67%

OK I just posted my servo setup vid.... LOTS to talk about and I found a way to use arms that I think works well.... Smitty777 is sending me wheels so later I may do a video showing that setup as well. THANKS SMITTY!
Anyway please let me know your thoughts on how I covered this and what else I should show if anything. I tried to cover everything I think is needed.

Hey Bob,
The link to the servo install and setup video doesn't work.
Thanks for the good work you do the videos are great. Just finished an HDX300 following your build vids on that bird and am checking out and comparing my Hurricane as this set progress. Keep up the good work - lots of people out here really appreciate you.

Oh, one more thing. The new upgrade elevator lever is straight...

Great..... is this optional or will it be in the kits?
2nd... if you move the ball for the Aileron and Pitch bell cranks so they are straight accross, then you have another problem. To keep the bell crank level the links to the servos wont be the same length!!! The geometery of those bell cranks would need to change to support that e.g. relationship of the arm to the swash in relation to the balls... this angle would need to change.
Any word if new bell cranks there will be coming out to support that?

This is the elevator CNC optional part. I haven't heard of the CNC bellcranks yet.

Wow Bob, I CAN'T BELIEVE my name is in your brilliant video:) Now I'm famous :D :noteworthy thank you MAN:)
How the building is going?
This weekend I flew with Align75A ESC! no more cutoffs :) 9 mins flying around whith no 3D on 16C 2100 pack:) Not bad

The build stopped but will be back in swing Monday night.
Well I had to give credit to you for pointing out the short link problem. You were right. Not enough threads to be comfortable to me!!!! I think we will have the same problem with the long links in the head once I make a adjustable short links at the blade grips. We will see but it looks like it to me.
Well I got the NEW ESC so I am going to try it.... I have an Align 75 if needed but we gotta see if the new ESC is OK so people know.
Well.... I am off to go flying!

Yes you are right! Long head links are also short! Adjusting head as in your swift video I found that it's impossible to make grip mixer arm parallel and adjusting long links to zero pitch there are also not more then 3 tread turns, so yesterday I got raptor links and will change them tomorrow
There was also a "NEW" version of ESC in my kit but I faced cut-offs twice so decided not to try it once again :)

I really dont know, but my guess is stock. Tom Viper probably knows. The third video is the one linked to from Trextunings review.
Looking forward to the rest of your build. :)

I am glad to hear that you are past your controller problems and that you are flying your Hurricane. Once I changed out ESCs I’ve really started to enjoy this thing. After trading Emails with the folks at Soaring Arrow Electronics explaining my difficulties they are sending me a new speed control. While this is very nice of them, if there has not been a change in the firmware I’ll end up with two speed controls that help me practice autos. Now that I am flying my Hurricane with the Align ESC I am in no rush to try something else. I hope Finless can figure out the Gaui controller.
Bob,
How are you autos these days?

Just posted anothe rservo setup using the JR large wheels. I gotta say special thanks to Smitty777 for sending me these wheels. These do make setting up the servo balls offsets EASY!

I am still going to try the ESC I got and will report back.,... I should have this heli done this week (and the vids). I dont doubt it may still be a problem but I gotta find out for myself. I have an Align 75 in my pocket should I need it.

Bob,
I just received a new controller from Soaring Arrow and it has the same placard on it as the one in your video. I hope this controller works well for you. I am delighted that you will be doing the product testing on this ESC. I look forward to seeing your results.
I would suggest that you do your testing in a quiet place as I did get some warning that I was about to lose power. It would go into the first step of battery protection (a reduction of power) before shutting off power altogether (Step 2). If someone is flying gas near by you may not be able to tell that you’re about to end up on the ground!

Thanks X30... I am very confident about my Auto capabilities so I will stay high and PUSH the hell out of it. It is cuts I think I can handle it... If I can auto a Trex450 I should be able to handle this thing :)
Thanks for the tips man
