Nice Job! :noteworthy

I'm not sure I have the cahones to start off nose in....you did really good in just a short time....

You'll be doing "Tic Tocs" in no time.....

Isn't it a blast.....even just hovering in the back yourd ?

Thanks Mate!

Yea starting off nose in sure was heart in mouth stuff initially. I just went right back to basics, and did a bit of Radds again. It was just like learning to hover all over again. It wasn't long though before I had it up & hovering. The collective had to be dropped a few times!!

Mmm tic tocs hey? I'm sure I'll get there eventually!

Hovering in the backyard - that was the main reason I wanted an electric heli. The main recommendations seem to be: "Get a 50 nitro" no way I thought & I'm glad I stuck to my guns. I would be lucky to have 20% of the flight time If I had gone nitro.

Cheers
Graeme

Kahn,

That has got to be the most unique reason I have heard for someone getting into this hobby!!

he kind of had good reason...... first time i plugged the battery in it went straight to full power plastered itself on the ceiling in the lounge and then attacked the light fitting until it knocked its battery out. walkeras - gotta love them.......:happyd

Ok you people, ... and I mean that!!

Here is my first video of me hovering (http://picasaweb.google.com/robert.linden/HelicopterMoviesPics/photo#5214525033518740466) a bit. Videographer is my 10 year old son, the "spasm" at the beginning while spinning up was the result of a mosquito attack, I'm told... ah, the hazzards of being tiny aviation journalist. :rollingI will let you all enjoy the multiple "plays on words" in that statement.

Finally, my instructions were, "Son, take about 45 seconds of video, then take a bunch of pictures, cool?" Son says, "Ok dad!"

If you notice, the video is EXACTLY 45 seconds, not too much hovering, but the kid does follow instructions!!

nice smooth take off... if the landing was as smooth.. then try it without the trainers... it does make a difference..for the better

Thanks for the good feedback! This thing is just AWESOME! I've got nothing to compare it too, but it just feels so freakin' SOLID in the air. Love every second of it!!

Today when I hovered, I flew up to about 15 to 20 feet in altitude!!! OMG that was scary fun!!! Was a little weird returning to earth, came back down VERY fast and I don't have "natural reflexes" yet. hehe, had JUST enough time to think, "Hmmm, too fast... need some pitch... but not too much pitch... hmmm, fence is close... hmmm, glad boys are behind metal chairs... hmmm, don't want to loose it here... hmmm, wife is watching out the window, I'm sure of it, don't crash in front of wife, she's not over the new batteries yet... hmmm, her new haircut looks freakin' awesome, my wife is so hot... SHIT, Helicopter!!!!... whew, nice one... Let's try "ALTITUDE" AGAIN!!! That was FUN!"

The only thing is I wish I had more batteries now. This 4.5 min flight, 2 hour charge (if the CHARGER batter has enough to charge both Li-Pos) ((I have ordered the e-Station battery linker thingy jobber))... charge time sucks. I'm basically flying once per day, 4.5 to 5 min per flight. NOT ENOUGH SMACK MAN!! (the drug reference is from movies, not actual experience!! :smokin:)

Oh, also ordered a pair of the 3300mah Zippy-H from Hobby City. Hopefully they will be in stock soon! hehe

Wow, I'm always so freakin' jazzed after flying this thing. My posts are strange.

Oh well, cool thing is... I know each and every one of you TOTALLY understand!!

Xomby...talk about crazy...I have 6 sets of lipos going to 7 for the hurri.....get about 30+ min actual flying time then all day charging them all back up...have 3 chargers with two capable of two bats at a time....

Helicrack isn't quite the word....I have a $250 heli with $1000 worth of lipos. !!:thinking

mjdee, I read your post above and I don't see "crazy" at all. I see AWESOMENESS! I want that kind of flight time, and maybe someday I will have it.

Oh, I have a couple of the Hobby City Zippy-H 3300's on order now. They were out of stock, but site said "2 - 3 days max" 2 days ago!! So, we'll see if they come through or not. I've actually heard both good and bad about those guys, but nothing but praise about those Zippy batteries! I hope I get them soon!

Hi,

My last video here : http://www.dailymotion.com/kkwait/video/x5wmmf_hurricane-550-camera-embarquee_sport
(with onboard flycamone)

My fried Gaui ESC hasn't been replaced yet but in the meantime I ordered a CC80... :)

The motor slows down a lot on big pitch inputs, I will have to figure this out... (Z20A 980 with 16/50/20/61 gearing)

I finished flying with the Gaui CF blades but didn't notice a big difference from the woodies except rigidity...

One last thing, the GY401 HH gain is at 93% on my DX7 and the tail doesn't wag... a bit high don't you think ?

On my z20 hurri, i can run the GY401 gain all the way up at 100% and there is no wag at all.. the tail is solid.
