Hello all,
I'm replacing the stock tail motor with another stock motor. I"m having trouble getting the gear off the motor shaft. Could anyone tell me how it's done? It seems to be stuck on there pretty good and I just know I'll break the plastic case if I keep prying on it like I've been doing.

I have replaced many stock tail motors and they have all came with a new gear, so there has been no need to take the gear off the motor. You can just remove the motor and the gear will slip through the plastic casing.
Edit: * I may have assume you have a CP Pro!

Yes, it is a CP Pro. The motor I bought didn't come with a new gear attached. Maybe thats how hellihobby can sell it so inexpensive. I didn't know a new one was supposed to have the gear attached.

man go dd drive. odds are it will last longer, and its a nice performance upgrade also. plus with the 3020 prop you have a good amount more space between the prop and the ground.

you will need to remove the motor and use a pinion puller if you are going to do that. http://www.helihobby.com/html/rc_heli_tools.html#PARTEFLA212
from now on tho, just buy the efite ones like they said and save yourself the hassle...or go direct drive tail (dd). you can read about the gws dd tail here www.bladecprepair.com.
