View Full Version : 14MZ model change feature

Hello,

I noticed a strange behavior with my 14MZ and I'd like to know if one of you has already encountered this.

First, let's say I'm only using PCM1024 receivers for now. I have a heli with a H4 swashplate. When I change from another model to this one, without shutting down the radio, Some of the swash servos start to "shake" alone. I noticed that only the 2 elevator servos are doing that.

The funny thing is that if I shut down my radio and receiver, and start them all again, everything is back to normal. I tested it twice to be sure to reproduce the exact situation.

So it seems to be related to the "hot" model change feature of the radio. Maybe that could be linked to the fact my model has a H4 swash (I have to make some other tests to see)

Some détails of my config : R138DP receiver, 4 S9252 servos. I have the latest software upgrade in the 14

Did you encounter that kind of problems ?

Thanks !

Hmmm I have never seen this switching between models myself but I have never run a H4 swash (all CCPM).

Is it also changing frequencies? If not is the RX on when you switch models in the TX? You should switch models THEN power up the RX.

If thats not what your doing then I dunno what it might be....

Thanks for the answer

No I do not change the frequency between model change. And I always start the transmitter before turning on the receiver.

I'll try this week-end with a H3 model to see if it has the same problem.

OK so how are you doing a hot model change?

If you change models, the transmission has to be activated once the model change takes place? So I would think your turning off the RX also during the model change.

If it works fine when everything is powered up normally. What is the problem?

@DavidH : In fact this happens when I start my transmitter, and it's not on the model I want to use. So I change the model on the transmitter, and activate the transmission again (I haven't turned on the RX yet at this time).

Then I turn on the RX and servo shake happens...

So I turn off everything, start the 14MZ again (with no model change), start the RX and everything is fine (no more shake).

Since I noticed that with a model using a H4 swash I was wondering if it is related... I'll make some tests this week end to see precisely what's wrong

Thanks !
