The manual states a .020" gap between the clutch and the motor hub(?).
After two tanks of gas the gap has shurnk to .005. the gap is even. Is this normal? If not, how do you adjust the gap, since I see no way to do this? Might have the nut holding the fan come loose? It was tighten with locktite. How about when installing the top and bottom halves together? If the gap is not correct, what else do you look for, except the fan nut? Thank you in advance for your help.

as long as there is a gap, its okay. Make sure you're checking 90 degrees from the dampers, as they tend to back out against the driver.
If the fan loosens, you'll know it as the m/r will stop turning.

coupla other notes here.
There are production variances in the height of the motor, we've measured differences between motors of a few thousandths. Its not much, but then it doesn't take much.
If your setup is very tight, put the top and bottom together, then loosen the bolts that hold the clutch block/driver into the clutch doublers. Don't loosen the bolts that hold the doublers in alignment, just the ones that go into the aluminum parts. Loosen all of them on both sides, and then tighten them back up. There's enough space in the bolt holes that this will open up the gap slightly.
My spacing started at .012 Now there is no space. What should I do? I already tried carey shurley's recommendation.

whats the serial number on your kit?
we have found minor variations in the height of the engines, which has resulted in making a new engine spacer plate on the bottom out of thinner material to address this.
If your kit number is early, I'd say less than 150 and you're having a gap problem, contact the shop. They'll be able to tell you the plate thickness to see if you need the thinner plate.
My kit serial # is 10250062.

check with the shop tomorrow. They should be able to send you a new spacer plate that goes underneath the motor. This is very simple to replace and install.
Sounds good. Thanks for the help. :)

I picked up my thinner plate from MA this week, when I installed it I found there was very little if NO clearance between the magnetic pick up (red-plastic module) and the lower plate. I went ahead and re-installed the .010" aluminum shims in the uprights I made up previously. I had no issues with these. Just something to watch out for, I don't know if the noted contact will hurt anything.

lawrenmd,
How did you make these .010 aluminum shims? Do you have any pictures? Also, did the thinner plate (without using the .010 aluminum shims) work to expand the gap?
