Unpacked my new Spectrum DX7 just now, and to my shock the charger is 120V 60Hz only, so no chance of using that here in Norway with 230v and 50Hz.
I got a Bantam BC-6, so im guessing I can cut of the plug, install a couple of banana plugs in the other end and use that to charge it? Can I just set up 1c charging, 1500mah true the transmiter?

NO!
First off the outside of the charge plug case is positive and the center pin is negative. There is a 3A slow blow internal fuse in the DX7.
You should charge at 1/10th C for 150% charge needed.
So if it is dead I suggest 150ma charge rate for 15 hours max.
Yes you can charge NiMh faster (with thermister control) ..... but for long battery life this is how I am explaining it! Anyone else can chime in ...... but my method will work .... especially if he is leaving the battery in the unit.

He can cut the charge cord off the charger and install banana plugs and charge with the BC 6. Will just have to make sure the polarity is correct.
You need to cycle the nimh several times before it will reach full capacity. So I would suggest taking the battery out of the transmitter and doing this. Keep cycling till it will reach 1500 mah or better.

A travel adaptor will work fine. Get one that plugs into your receptacle and has an American output adaptor. Can be bought for about $14.00 wherever tourists conjugate.

charge it using your bc6. that's the best option. i do it that way. about 500ma charge current is enough.

Thanks for the advice all, still unsure if I should charge the battery while it's inside the TX or not tho. Much easyer to get a plug for charging it inside the TX than getting the plug thats used on the battery. Good advice on that trabel adaptor btw, might be the easyest way out by fare.

@jack726
In this case it wont work. The adapter wont accept the voltage. It's for 110V only. Else it would say 110/220 Volts on the label. So i'm afraid it wil be toasted if you plug it in to 220. The travel adapter only makes it possible to fit in to your wall socket. It doesnt transform from 220 to 110 volts.
So if there is a negative point regarding this dz7 kit, it would be the charger. It wouldn't be much more expensive for them to include a 110/220 charger i think.
I left that charger in the box....So i take out the battery from the spectrum and charge it outside the tx. I didnt want no fuzz with the 3A fuse and polarity. I charge it with 1C (controlled) on my charger.
If you want to play it safe...do it with 150 mA

Yeah, flunk is right. Cut off the connector from the original charger, use some banana connectors to plug it into your charger and use its NiCd program (or similar). Leave the battery in the transmitter and don't charge it with more than 1000mAh.

This is what I use when traveling out of country just like jack726. It has adapters to plug in to the foreign outlet, and then the transformer plugs into the adapter, and then the 110 unit plugs into the transformer. Set the watt switch and you are good to go. Here is a link for a similar unit. http://www.familyonboard.com/voltageconverters.html

O right !!!
Sorry for that.
I didnt know you really meant a transformer, i was thinking of an adapter for the pins only.
And that for 14 us$ ?...that's dirt cheap. I was looking for such thing locally overhere...not so funny prices.

Hej Nordmand
Du kan jo gøre som jeg: To 242 Lader til Graupner sender og modtager, 150 mah/150mah.
Set hos: http://www.hobby-world.dk
Pris: 98,00 danske kr.
Fordi min DX7 er købt i USA og jeg havde samme problem som dig og
denne lader virker også ments batteriet er i Tx.

i still don't get it... why you wanna pay extra for a non intelligent (slow) charger instead of just cutting the wire from the supplied sh*tty charger and connecting it to your intelligent, safely fast charging charger? it's much cheaper and by all means a smarter way to go.

If you already have the BC-6...

You can pick JR plug from the drop down box, and let them worry about the polarity of the connection. Then just use all your existing equipment, AND charge through the stock charge port.

USA = 110 V
Europa = 220 V

If you don't want to start cutting plugs off and making leads you could always buy a JR charger as the DX7 is basically a JR transmitter so uses the same polarity.
One other option is to buy a pre-made lead to charge from a decent intelligent charger, the leads are available from http://ashtekelectronics.com/shop/silicone-transmitter-field-charging-lead-p29795.html
