Wow Mrawicki. Sorry to hear about that flame out. :(
It says a lot about the DS 821's though that the servo arm ends were snapped off but the main output shaft on the servo remained intact! What batteries were you running on that heli? Are those the 2x FlightPower Hacker EVO 25 3S1P 3300Mah ?

@mikej
Of course the result of the crash!
What else - I hit the ground inverted!!!
@ xodarap1
The servo arm is broken but the gearing of the eleveron-servo is damaged too, one or two thooth are broken!!!
Yes these are those batteries - Flighttime ~5 minutes!

Thanks for the reply. When it hit the ground inverted, did the blades break? When mine hit hard inverted I broke one RCP blade and had a second gear strip on the elevator servo. Cheap fix though.. the servo gear packs are only a few bucks and i bought extras. :YeaBaby: Overall, I've been very pleased with the DS821's.
I was thinking of giving those batteries a try, but if you are only getting 5 minute run times with them, I'll just keep flying the kong 2200's until the new packs come out (30C packs are expected by ReadyHeli within 2 weeks or so and they will also have a newer light weight version in 3s 2200).

those are the Trex 600 skids. I used Kustom Kolor paints (made by House of Kolor)... as far as how she flies... not sure yet.. took it out for a quick spin the other day, found more problems in teh programming that Flying-Hobby had done so I took it back inside and reset everythng.. it's set up MUCH better now but..... the weather hasn't been on my side. it's supposed to be very nice this sunday.. which happens to be the monthly get together of about 40 pilots in my area.. so I'll take it up there for the maiden

These were taken tonight just after a series of thunderstorms moved out of our area. Our power went out so I figured why not head to the field to fly! Not great conditions for photos, but it was fun flying around out there after the storm.

Maiden flight has not happened yet, but hopefully soon. Been taking my time on the build, etc...
Here is my recently painted canopy. Nothing fancy, but I'm happy how it turned out since it was my first ever! Needs some graphics, I think. So I'll be using some of the included decals.

Here are a couple I took earlier today. Photographer is my 10 year old son, and he didn't do too bad.
Enjoy! I know I enjoyed the CRAP out of flying!! This is just an AWESOME helicopter! I am so happy I purchased this baby!!!

looks great... now ya just need to get rid of the training gear... if you can take off and land straight up and down... then it's time to leave the trainers on the ground.

Yes, I know Mystic... I have been taking off straight up and down for the last couple of hovers... I'm also feeling more and more comfortable every time I fly.
Hey, while I'm thinking about it, I have a question for all of you. I find that my hurricane's nose drifts ever so slowly to the right (that means tail to the left) while I'm hovering. Now, I'm using the 401 Futaba with the matched 9254 servo, absolutely ZERO twitching or hunting that I can tell. I even did a VERY SCARY pirouette while hovering today, and the tail stopped on a dime when I released rudder input.
Maybe it's normal, just wanted to check with you smart people... and Jungle Bob...:)

a little mechanical trimming can help correct that.. but if it's just a very very slow turn, you most likely can just fly it the way it is
xomby

Yeah, I would call it the VERY VERY slow kind of drift. Also, it says all through the 401 instructions that in HH mode (which is what I'm using) you never should trim.
Anyway, I think I will stick with it. It's one of those things where all of a sudden I realize the nose has moved to the right a bit and I correct. Never even actually SEE it move.

correct.. in HH mode you never give trim from the TX.. BUT you can set it up in rate mode and adjust mechanically by adjusting either the link from servo to rudder or if you have a boom mounted servo adjust the position on the boom. then switch back to HH mode and it should hold..

Sounds like your very Slow drift is manageable and acceptable, I have always found I need little touches of cyclic input from time to time just to hold it in one position. Very few helis will sit in one position and all are prone to a gentle drift after a few seconds of hover (breeze, atmospheric pressure, vibration or even the balance of your training gear could cause this) I would advise you not to rush the training gear (my 2c's) and take it off when you are good and ready. What skids do you have on there? We find the Raptor 30 (and Trex 600's)skids have such a wide stance that they are almost as good as training gear and very hard to 'tip', you may find these advantageous and they are cheaper than a set of blades, bolt on with practically no adjustment- great pics mate!
