Hello everyone.
I've been flying the 550 now for a few weeks, and now 15 flights on it with my first loops rolls and inverted during flt 15. Very happy with the heli!!!
I've been flying the E-sky CP-2 and Belt-CP before, and this is a giant leap forward.
Thanks to this forum with the very informative "Finless" videos, I was able to order the good stuff right away while getting a good deal as well.
The kit came from Flying-hobby, where i got the XL 3D Combo, but with the Z20-980 motor that seems to be very popular, as well as the DS821 servo's.
The kit did not include screws to install the servo's, except for 4 that came with the GY401. The servo horns were just the standard ones, so to small to drill holes in them for the offset, but I came across some nice red metal ones at my LHS. Goes well with the motor ;) The links were all langer than the old kits, I guess, so i did not really need the raptor links. I could only install one on each pushrod, with a gaui one on the other end. The Motor came with very heavy duty connectors, but I went with the align t-rex 450 ones. These are still a lot thicker than the motor wires so seemed up for the job
I was lucky to find out i needed a step down for the tail gyro (9254). otherwise I might have toasted it before flying.
Helidirect was kind enough to offer me a discount on an order of batteries and charger.
I would have never asked about it if i had nog read it on this forum.
The outrage XP 3300 6S was the battery that seemed the best compromise between flight time/price/size. I did a small mod on the canopy fastner on the skid, so that the canopy is tilted a bit. This way the battery fits on the standard plastic frame.
This Idea was stolen from JaggedEdge (thanks!!) but i used the included parts and some sheet alu.
The ESC was mounted on the lower batery mount. That way there is more room between the canopy and the 75A ESC. When installing it in the original spot, it tended to push against the canopy. Seemed like a bad idea, heat near plastic with limited airflow.
The kit came with a white plastic canopy, so just a bit dissapointed about having to paint it, but I like my own interpretation of the default scheme. I used Tamyia spray paint.
The motor is close to the frame, but just clears it. I use standard gears and a 14T pinion on the motor. I get about 10 mins of flt time when doing hover practice or when just flying around. Thats when the lipo alarm shows yellow. leaves the cells at 3,7V without load after the flight. I put back around 3000Mah in the batteries. (not exactly 80%:P)
So here's the pic's
The battery, some ABS strips to prevent denting the Lipo and antislip rubber in the frame. Also antislip rubber to prevent vibration of the ESC.
The lipo alarm has several colours, and is clearly visible, even during daytime.
RX is a FS617 2,4Ghz. Just hard to secure those cables in a nice way
The bottom canopy hook, moved up and forward. srewed in place.
Still need to find a proper way to realy secure the RX batt though, Ideas welcome:)
Still thinking about replacing the skids with raptor 50 of maybe t-rex 600 ones.
The tape on one blade is for balance. CG was 100% spot on, but weight was just a bit off.
Thanks everyone on the forum and hopefully mi pics will inspire someone else.

Nice job Nav! She looks real good. If I was starting out now I'd be going for the 6S outrage pack also. The only concern I have is that your ESC looks very vulnerable to impact damage. I run 2 x 3S packs one on top & one on the bottom. The bottom pack often gets hit during a crash. I have been lucky 2 crashes have damaged the outer shrink wrap & bent the cells but the packs still work fine. An ESC wouldn't be as robust I think. Can you shape a piece of aluminium to act as a guard for you ESC?
I never have liked it on the side either but I have only ever damaged one ESC there.
Cheers
Graeme

Thanks Graeme,
I never thought about that.
A horizontal position would already make a difference, so I will try that, and maybe even add a guard to protect it from damage.
I still hope to prevent crashes, but since i'm still trying new moves, it's still not risk free :YeaBaby:

Here's some pics I took today of my brand new hurri just before I went to fly her for the first time. I know it's hard to tell because it looks so amazing and professional, but I did indeed paint that canopy myself :bad haha.
She's got the short boom w/ 500mm woodies, the trex600 paddles (which work great), stock landing gear (yikes). Other pics show the cf frame and setup. Now that I'm flying I want these somewhere so that one day, when I fly her into the ground and have to take it home in a basket, I can come here and look at how good she used to look. Enjoy!

Waiting for my scale fuselage to put on My Hurricane 555, I decided today (a rainy dad !) to paint my helico. I hopped that the blue lines on the rotor will be more visible  Next time I will try RED stripes like Graeme...:P
And if the weather don't get better, I might re-paint my all fleat in my "private colour scheme". this painting exercise will help me to wait for the scale fuselage project to complete.

Hurricane in company on my Kerosene powered micro-Panther. Is it a 2Kg jet originaly designed for Electric turbine in which I have put a 200 grammes kerosene turbine. See http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740052
I have also put the same Micro-Turbine in a ...Twinjet. Built thread here (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...7&page=2&pp=15)).
Now.... I dream of a Turbo-Prop made for my 200 grammes turbine. This will allow me to built a 3 Kg Turbine Helicopter !!!! :D :D
